I may have to go run an errand at Bangkok Bank there on Rat u thid 200 road.   of course there could be other things to do.   Maybe I should have put that in the first post.    I wanted to confirm the standalone banks are open as normal.

Yes. The banks on Rat-u-Tit all open. But I do do see some small branches along Nanai just closed down. Such as Kbank. All gone.

  • A friend went down there a few weeks ago, he says good luck finding a place to eat. Some bars are open but other that that a ghost town. Unless you just want to see a ghost town a waste of time.

Spent 4 weeks down there over the last two months.  Plenty of restaurants open.  Ate lunch in Rawai at the Sea Gypsies village by the Pier a few times, Bought the fresh catch of large prawns and crab on one side of the street and took it across the street where they cooked it up for us.  Yes very empty as far as tourists, but it makes it a pleasure to drive around.  Wat Chalong was not very busy when we visited, as well as Big Buddha.  The Aquarium at Cape Panwa was nice to visit without hordes of people and the beaches in Kata, Karon, and Patong were clean and there were restaurants open in all locations.  Bar life is very non existent.  Pick what  you want it still can be accomplished in Phuket
