Even domestically, how many criminals have we seen pay for their freedom after a crime, Thai and farang?   It's Thailand's famous never ending "bail" or charges simply disappear.  

 

You can murder someone here, but if the victim's family accept 1 million in compensation, and along with a brokerage payment to the BiB, you are back in the bar in a few days time.

I like it here, but I am under no illusions that Thailand attracts criminals from the west, especially Pattaya, where I am.

I don't care.  I am well aware of my environment, and personal safety and security here.

IMO I do not believe that most of the western criminals come to Thailand, although some will.

I believe other countries get their share too.

It seems for many people the main reason that they attack something, anything, is to bring attention to themselves. Often they are not interested to make anything better. And even if problem A would be solved they wouldn't be happy. They would right away move to problem B. It's a waste of time to give those people the time they want.

I did say, "a lot" not "most."  

 

In my opinion, "a lot" of western criminals seek refuge in Thailand.
