It is funny how they can come up with number. There are zero tourists coming into thailand. this number would be 100% of the business going under.. where is the money is coming from paying the staff and do nothing. 47% staff reduction. where did they get the money to pay 53% of their staff. This sory is not realizstic.. they should use the 100 % or zero nobody is coming into thailand. again.

Popular Post Expat Tom
I have said this many times before but it needs repeating ad nauseum. THE CCP CORONAVIRUS CAME FROM WUHAN CHINA. The Chinese (CCP) knew that the virus was capable of human to human transmission yet covered up the fact and allowed travel from the source , Wuhan, to Thailand, America, Europe and all corners of the globe. The people of the WORLD, Thailand included, have the Communists Party of China to thank for all of the death and financial misery. Thailand should remember this before they let their beloved brothers from the Middle Kingdom back into Thailand to bring their next new viral present to the Land of Smiles. When would be a good time to welcome the Chinese hoards back? HOW ABOUT NEVER!!!!! 2

The so-called Special Strategy Master Plan focuses on foundations to support economic recovery and transformation by ensuring people have jobs to survive, vulnerable groups are cared for, and local communities have employment and opportunities. geriatrickid
The estimate is consistent with the GDP split indicating that domestic tourism represents a large part of the tourism sector. It isn't as bad a hit as some make it out to be. If it gets rid of the low end fire trap places, then good.I can think of a few over priced hotels where I have stayed that i do hope go bankrupt. Thailand is not the only country in the world affected. Maybe as Thailand has absolutely no reasonable support structure for unemployment other than the odd 3000 baht donation. Assuming tourism is say 10% of all jobs in Thailand and we assume only half of Thai population are working - that's near 35,000,000 Thais. If only 10% are in tourism , that's 3.5 million working in tourism - and if 60% of tourism closes that would add up to about 2.1 million Thais - not a number the illustrious PM is spouting in any way. Add, businesses in that are also struggling and the unemployed in Thailand would be near 3 million easily. Certainly not <2% - more +10%. Now high unemployment for a while is not an issue IF you have a support structure for the people - Thailand and its glorious PM doesn't - though he could make a donation from his obscene 2,000,000,000 baht wealth - but he wont. Popular Post robertson468
I think 60% is a gross underestimate of those out of work and one only needs to look around the more popular resort destinations to see that the vast majority of business associated with Tourism are closing down and with the 5,000 baht payment ceasing at the end of September, watch out for the fireworks from the unemployed. Forget the Student Protests, I think the general public will start getting serioualy pi**ed off with this self centred and incompetant Government.
