ronaldo0
I did wonder how all these people were surviving as the first 4 months there were queues everywhere in towns with people needing food etc and they lined up for ages to get a handout mostly from people who had set it up on Facebook to help and certainly not the government . Then the government handed out the 5000bht for three months but not many got it . But last three months I haven’t seen any sign on the internet of people queuing up for food or any mention of places doing it , yet the employment rate has dropped like a stone in places so how are they getting by daily ?? With an economic and military alliance with China? In this case, Westerners would no longer be welcome and tolerated only those who have married Thais with children. Because anyone who stays in a country the size of Thailand for more 2 or 3 months is really not a tourist. A tourist is a person who tours an area for pleasure or culture. If you're staying longer than 2 or 3 months, you're here for something other than to tour the country. People on amnesty have been here for about 7+ months. There many reasons to stay in Thailand other than tourism. Many other types of visas are available to extend your stay for legitimate reasons. Try to be honest when stating why you want to stay. Abject poverty is very real in Thailand. I don't have to "read" anything - I can walk though the village. I know who is well to do, who is doing Ok, and who are subsisting. And no - people are not starving here. Food is plentiful and cheap. But! Most governments pay lip service to the poor while they assist the wealthy in harvesting wealth for the 99%. How do you think these "Civil Servant" all end up as wealthy themselves. And this latest move to destroy global economies in a way the kills the lower and middle classes while the wealthy just keep getting wealthier. And that wealth does trickle down. Just take a look at the bling that supposed "Civil Servants" are sporting. "Ah, they inherited it!" Right. Take a shower and cool off. You totally missed the point.

Popular Post connda
Hungry? Probably not. But they are economizing in an economic downturn that is very real. That simply means taking the free stuff where you can get in in order to stretch what income you have. You guys with silver spoons stuck in your derriere and a smug attitude never have had to economize in you own lives 'eh? Try proverty sometimes. It's a humbling experience. Then you might develop some empathy for these people instead of being heartless prigs.

The strategy must be that we live with the virus. You can not shut down the country for such a long time with out any kind of support. Only the areas that depend on foreign tourists are without revenue. Areas like Phuket, Pattaya, inner city Chiang Mai, several islands are experiencing a catastrophe. People whose livelihood depends on foreign tourist revenue are suffering deeply. However, the rest of country is doing reasonably well. The official government forecast is for only a 8% decline in GDP from 2019. Bangkok is as busy as ever, no slowdown. Up north, the rice fields are growing. So looking at all businesses in Thailand, basically 92% are stilling doing okay. Why risk opening the borders without proper quarantines for tourists? It's silly to open them. If the borders are opened without necessary precautions, it will cause deaths, great expenses for health care, and for what?? just increase GDP temporarily by 8%. Once the virus returns and runs rampant, the GDP will be down 20-30% maybe more, because of all the dead and sick people, and new curfews and all the other restrictions we went through to become virus free. In summary, if someone moves your cheese, you need to move to find another piece of cheese. One has to change, to changing circumstances. To be more specific, move to where the money is. There is lots of money in Thailand and it is not in the tourist areas. Edited September 19, 2020 by Banana7

Popular Post geriatrickid
To borrow from the Epistle to the Galatians; for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap and oh so appropriate here. Phuket is an integral part of the triangle of corruption (Phuket-Surat Thani- Nakhon Si Thammarat) and it was a strong supporter of Suthep Thaugsuban and his political machinations. Patong facilitated the grip of the corrupt beach and taxi thugs, and where deceit and thievery flourished. It seems that both the municipality and the provincial adminstrations are MIA. As sad as the pictures are, it is quite likely that these same people took to the streets with their "yellow shirt" protests, and who gained from the aforementioned beach and taxi thuggery. Along the tourist strip from Kata to Surin Beach, most Thais had some degree of taint. Unfortuunately, there are too many children going hungry and the situation is quite dire for some families. It should not come as a surprise if at some point people express their frustration in the predictable Thai form. 4

Cold something else be going on? ok I help you: Today (now. not 50 years ago), beeing fat is a sign of beeing poor. It is the same in all western countries (I think also fe. in Mexico). especially in USA. The unhealthy and cheap food makes you fat (sugar, proceeded food, etc.) Healthy food is mostly more expensive. Plain sugar is extremly cheap . I do not make it up. You can find the facts at the WHO sides etc. Yes, some of these people would be able to survive without food for 2 weeks. Meaning, they would starve. After that time, they would start to die. Someone here even want to suggest that ? within this starvation time, some will die earlier and all all them will loose most of their energy. after 2 weeks without food, it will be very complicate to eat again and you need a special diet - otherwise it will get dangerous. for children, even a diet without enough protein, will have a big negative effect. For example, their brain development will be hindered. this effect is irreversal, meaning , their intellectual ability will be limited for the rest of their life, meaning, their ability to work and earn sufficient money to provide themselves and their children is reduced. sidenote: living for longer time without proper food means, especialy for children, their immune system will be less effective .... Please , get yourself informed (you even could use internet !) before making those terrible remarks. 3
