Popular Post webfact
Thai media takes aim at plans to make 14 day quarantine fun and interesting Picture: Thai Rath Thailand's tourism authority has said that 14 day quarantine in the country will be enormous fun. They expect tourists to come in their droves to learn yoga, cooking and watch concerts from their isolation balconies. In addition foreign tourists are being reminded of major attractions like coming to Thailand to get married, learn Muay Thai and even order a pizza topped with Green Curry. In fact the fun and merriment is endless in post pandemic Thailand, reported Thai Rath, in an article that utilised unusually flowery vocabulary. Some might even say they were having a little good natured fun at the expense of the gung-ho and upbeat TAT, notes Thaivisa. After a headline that said tour agents were "jubilant" with the news of the Special Tourist Visa (STV) that was announced last Tuesday, the media said that delight and merriment will be the order of the day in 14 day quarantine - the start of possible longer stays for foreign tourists. TAT governor Yuthasak Suphasorn said that interest at all TAT offices abroad was intense and that the STV would start in October. "As soon as the STV news broke the London office had FIFTEEN calls," he said,"and there were SIXTEEN emails". People were given the latest advice about how and where to apply and process their interest. Deputy in charge of marketing in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the US, Srisuda Wannapinyosak was equally effusive. She said the reaction to the STV in Europe was "very good". She was expecting a "Big Move" in November and December as winter bites there. "What we are doing is making the 14 day quarantine full of fun and interesting. It won't be boring at all. "There will be substance to the quarantine not just Netflix". Examples of what this entails were concerts that could be viewed from balconies, live shows direct to your room, meditation through yoga, and cooking classes. She was determined that foreigners wouldn't forget Thailand and was sure that the TAT strategies would ensure they stay one step ahead of rival countries in luring tourists. She wanted the doubters to be convinced that Thailand was the answer to their travel needs. In addition to all the quarantine fun she said that she was working with all manner of operators to convince foreigners of all that Thailand has to offer including getting married in the kingdom, Muay Thai (Thai boxing) classes and even the prospect of something truly delicious: Pizza topped with "kaeng khiaw waan" or green curry. But not a second before they volunteer to be cooped up together again in a hotel room for 14 days. 6 1

Popular Post spidermike007
An incompetent, living in a cloud of delusion. TAT governor Yuthasak Suphasorn said that interest at all TAT offices abroad was intense and that the STV would start in October. "As soon as the STV news broke the London office had FIFTEEN calls," he said,"and there were SIXTEEN emails". 16 e-mails. Wow. How will the nation be able to keep up with that kind of demand? I suggest he try the 14 day quarantine, watch alot of movies and concerts, and then talk from experience, and tell us about the joy he felt. Green curry pizza would attract anyone. The tour agents are jubilant! What can one say? Desperation is setting in. Heads are going to roll. Just returned from Samui. Utter devastation. 90% of the businesses on the beach road were closed, and hundreds of hotels are closed and for sale, at half price. Trillions of baht are going to be lost here. Annually. Tourism will NEVER recover. Not in our lifetimes. Too much timidity. Too much cowardice. Too little juice and creativity. Such small minds. And now, the few remaining tourists here are being asked to leave? They should be given free visas, and 10,000 baht vouchers to stay! Commendation letters too. And for incoming tourists, free quarantine. All expenses, including meals, picked up by the army, using their multi trillion baht slush fund. All people from all nations should be welcome starting tomorrow. If you are willing to endure quarantine, no restrictions whatsoever. No begging of a consulate for permission to visit. No health insurance. A covid letter, and a booking. Anything else is nonsensical stupidity. 20

Popular Post Rookiescot
OK so the Thai economy is hurting because of the lack of tourists. Heres an idea. Many of us expats are sitting with 800k in the bank we never touch. Why dont they drop the requirement to 400k and encourage us to spend the difference. 1 1

Popular Post JusticeGB
Fun will start with undercooked cold fried eggs with chicken sausage and lukewarm tea served at 9am. This will be followed by loud music for most of the day. In Thailand the louder the music the better/more fun it is. Most rooms won't have balconies unless you pay through the nose so all you will get is a lousy breakfast and incessant noise. 2
