It's always a "bag of tricks" when Democrats can't win an election.

He has been openly talking about what he is up to. He's not only corrupt. He broadcasts the details of his corrupt plans to undermine American democracy. The enemy of the people is not the press. Its him.

Really? How about you just change that last statement to “Sycophantic Trump fans have no problem” (because let’s admit it, you’ve forgiven him for a lot worse) because I can assure you the VAST amount of American people do.

And you keep doing this “there’s no legal obligation” thing. How about an ethical obligation? How about a moral obligation? How about doing the right thing?

We know you don’t really care about any of these things and that’s really where we differ. Some of us think this is very important, especially for the leader of the free world.

From the inception of the income tax, no president until Richard Nixon released their tax returns...are you saying they were all unethical...immoral...and did the wrong thing? Pres. Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson (okay he certainly was all those things)?

I'll beg to differ on that.

And no you don't care...you're just nosy...don't try to dress it up as anything more than it is.

Presidents are not private citizens. They are servants of we the people. This president is all about his own personal interests. That stinks

Well said.  Its clear, a lot of the members making comment  on this forum are not businessmen and because they do not properly understand the issues; ridicule and deride from behind their ignorance

Most of the people voting on Nov 3 will not be businessmen.

And they used to burn woman at the stake so what’s your point? After Nixon EVERY SINGLE presidential candidate has released their tax returns, understanding how it important it is to be transparent.
until Trump.

Transparency was another of his campaign promises.

Trump has done a lot of things differently...and thank God for it.

Where do you come up with all your grade school civics sermonizing...it's really hilarious.

OK. I've heard enough.

As I've said many times debating with 45 fans is an exercise in futility.

The 5th Avenue contingent. Nothing moves them.

Anyone with even a modicum of business sense knows that why one goes into real estate.

Trump releasing his tax returns can only hurt him, it can't help him. He would be a fool to have released them. It might make sense to release them now, but not before. I applaud him for not caving to the left's demands.

I wonder why they only seem to be commenting on 15 years of returns rather than all the over two decades worth....

If he runs he will release his taxes.

Actually, I would support a law that all government employees' tax returns be made public record. What say you?

No.

The Hatch act is enough.

Perhaps for governors, senators, and congressmen.

But who needs to see the taxes of clerks?

26 U.S. Code § 6103 - Confidentiality and disclosure of returns and return information

(a) General rule Returns and return information shall be confidential, and except as authorized by this title —...

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/6103

The U.S. Code states that "[federal tax] returns and return information shall be confidential." This extends to any of the information related to the returns, such as reviews, audits, and any effort to collect unpaid taxes.

Violation of IRS tax return confidentiality law may be charged as a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines. Additionally, the victim of an unlawful disclosure may sue for damages of $1,000 or more for each act. Any federal employee who's convicted of this crime must be fired (in addition to criminal charges and potential civil liability).

Attorney General Barr, the FBI, Treasury Police, and Trump's private attorneys get to work!

Just in time for the debate...curious the Biden campaign had their Trump tax ads ready to roll minutes after the Times story was public.

What does that even mean?

For the word itself, open a dictionary.

In the context of Trump's campaign promises, he said he administration will be the most transparent blah blah blah. Since then, transparency has not been the hallmark of neither the President, nor his administration.

One last time.
He’s the President of the United States. There’s a lot of things he is different from than Joe public. Nothing you are saying negates his obligation for transparency to the American people.
why do you not get this?

PS It’s not the sane as supporting your football team. You don’t have to keep backing him no matter what.

He said after the IRS audit was complete...but I suspect he never intended to release them and that's fine with me. But certain things have to be said for public consumption, like Hillary's "public and private" position on issues.

As far as I recall (could be wrong) the 'after the audit' thing came up after the elections, not during the campaign itself. Regardless, this excuse was already debunked - he could have released them even so.

What's fine with you is irrelevant, you're fine with whatever Trump does. He says he will? Fine. He doesn't? Fine. He didn't mean it and lied? Fine. If he'll flip flop you'll be fine with it too.

But but but Hillary. Thought one of the campaign talking points was Trump-is-not-a-politician.

You're not that forgiving when other politicians break their promises. And besides, Trump supporters keep saying Trump isn't a politician.
