That's exactly what they want it to do. There's good "commission" to be made on the "hundreds of Millions"  baht worth of sand being trucked in each time.

  • Is'nt that just the true mark of a World Class International Family Resort!  Well done all!

Everybody can make a mistake . But some people are making the same mistake again and again ... That is proof of not being very clever .

Happens every time. Why expected to be any different this time???

Expectation? or are they happy ????

Years back Beach road rarely flooded and Jomtien never, then they built on all the swamp lands that used to hold the water, added the drain off from the dark side to the load and surprise, surprise, its too much for the system to cope with - well I never!

Any more questions

No, that photo makes it clear  that the  pipe is more than likely completely blocked full of sand and debris.

Yeah, that first photo was too close. You had no idea what it was you were looking at. The 2nd photo makes it clearer.
A third one from a little further back would help even more, to get a better idea of the size of the pipe. Which looks to be made of a crappy plastic.

tip for thais .add cement in with the sand next time, thatll fix  it

Hint from me : sealing water with cement leads to additional floods.

Why not position the outlet closer to the water and cover the extended pipeline/culvert with sand. Less to replace after every storm.

Way too simple, for the technically challenged at City Hall  ????

Waste of money. Create an inland beach that will not be affected by trash or rains.

there is an inland beach in Bkk with a big swimming pool.......

They need to put a breakwater in so that there is a limit to where the sand can go.

At least then it would be easier to reclaim the sand.  Not really sure how else you can stop the erosion

Same as the roads & sidewalks.

No proper planning or ground work so repeat year after year after year.

"Yeah, that'll do. Should be okay for a few months!"

Just got a mis-directed email from HuaHin saying thanks for new beach, it started arriving this morning.

And this is the start of part 2. That's the beach erosion from the waterline up. Not from flooding but Northerly wind driven currents and waves that coincide with a high tide. This action has been absent for past two years so beach sand project has yet to be tested. It has only been a very mild Northerly that did this.

Probably doesn't matter, going to build another lane for Beach Rd on it next.
