plus the banks can keep all of these buildings in their books

as an asset witht a largely overpriced price, that gives a better picture

about the numbers at the end, even if it's a false one (But everybody know what is

important in Thailand is what you let see, and not what the reality is)

also good numbers in the bank books = good bonuses for all the staffs at the end of the year

this way everybody is happy (At least untill the sh...t hit the fan, like it was for Thai airways)

Is there no third party in Thailand that audits the banks and verifies their assets are valued at market/cash prices? Is there a superintend of financial organizations that audits banks?

On the paper yes it's one of the role of Bank Of Thailand

in the reality everybody knows how the system works 

and nobody want to have a big lost of face for a lot of people

most of them very high in the hierarchy and with very high relationships

plus opening a financial can of worns it's always a risky move
