To be clear, requirements can vary from office to office. I was refused a renewal at Chatuchak because my visa would expire in less than 30 days, and I was told I would also need a residence certificate, even though I had my pink ID & yellow-book. I went to the Lat Krabang DLT office a few days later and they accepted the pink ID & yellow-book, and I did not even have to show my passport or provide a certificate of residence.

I was also able to watch the video at home so did not have to watch it at the DLT office.

I’ve read that the DLT in Jomtien do not accept the Yellow Tabien Baan book & Pink ID.

As usual for Thailand, It appears some are interpreting whatever guidelines differently. IF in a situation where the Yellow Book is not accepted I’d be asking for an explanation from a Senior Officer of Why a Government issued Pink ID card and Yellow Tabien Baan Book is not acceptable as proof of address - I think some DLT officers just don’t know what they are and revert to the default ‘cannot’ in lieu of actually finding out properly.

Watching the video at home is a better option !!! (of course, no one will, but there is nothing to learn from the moronic piece of film other than making us aware of the ’the juvenile attitudes towards driving and road safety).

Yes, I found that when something doesn't go my way and I demand to see a supervisor, they have always been real receptive of any criticisms I have...

In any event, one office required the certificate and a visa valid for at least 30 days and the other did not. I would guess had the letter of the law been followed I would have been required to renew my visa prior to renewing my license.
