Pattaya: Norwegian aged 87 faces five years in jail for downloading child porn

Several Thai agencies armed with a search warrant went to View Talay Building D in Pattaya yesterday where they arrested an 87 year old Norwegian man and charged him with downloading child pornography. 

 

Hakon S. was taken away to Pattaya police station. He faces five years in prison and/or a 100,000 baht fine. 

 

The arresting party comprised the Department of Provincial Administration (DOPA), the Department of Special Investigations (DSI), the Forensic Science Institute and the Pattaya police. 

 

A Norwegian embassy representative was in attendance as an observer.

Taken into evidence were a phone, computer, external hard drive, flash drive and five SD cards that had been loaded with a lot of child porn from the internet. 

 

Jetpong Chokesawatworakun said that the suspect had been under surveillance online for some time. 

 

He said that people downloading child pornography using Bit Torrent or a peer-to-peer network will be investigated and caught.

Seems to be a lot of people there looking at the evidence    

I,m sure a small operation with a sharp knife would be a more appropriate punishment.

Obviously what he did was wrong and bad. I think the main question should be: Did he "only" look at those pictures or did he have sex with children, maybe in Pattaya.

If he had sex with children then I join the execute him club. Because that is a lot worse than "just" looking at pictures.

I guess you dont know how bittorent works, the moment you download something it is usually shared too.

 

Not the brightest guy in the world using an open network like that for CP that is just asking to get caught. Not that I mind him getting caught but its just stupid to not know that bittorent is dangerous. Also for downloading normal movies. They can identify you if they want. I always use a VPN when i use bittorent for downloading movies or tv series.

Yes there is a difference between the two and if he paid for such pics then its worse too as he then encourages the abuse by creating demand and financial incentive (not that you pay for bittorent downloads). So that is probably not the case

I agree.

Why was he under surveillance?  What alerted so many different agencies to raid his condo? Even Pattaya Plod were on hand for another photo-op to suggest they are working.

It does seem odd mentioning only downloading, these things are usually reported and prosecuted in terms of possession or distribution.

This is why I never use it. Instead of Dawson's Creek you could be downloading Dawson's Crack and then everyone thinks u gay.

Its simple on bittorent the anti CP agencies have accounts and if an IP comes up a few times downloading from that then they are going to find out where that IP comes from. If no VPN was used its relatively easy. 

 

So it might just be electronic surveillance. All work done by other foreign agencies and then asked the Thai plod to help.

I use newsgroups works better and you don't share. Ok you do have to pay some money for the GB you use. I have it totally automated it downloads all my TV series the moment they come out. My NAS drive has an automated download program on it (sickgear)

Norway treats prison inmates far to good, let the disgusting perv rot in a Thai jail.

I think that him viewing or buying and downloading the pictures supports the sickos black market for doing this to kids. They might be kidnapped stolen kids, and the ages could be babies to teenagers made to perform for the cameras, rented out as sex toys or whatever they do to the kids. It is just gross and sick on any level and can not be tolerated. So his actions help support this grotesque BS. And again you must  think of what ages he was looking at as all of these guys are warped and should be castrated or putting it mildly, executed.

He only downloaded movies from internet, he didn't hurt any girl (yet)...

 

So what would you do with prins Andrew? He went much further than watching movies.
