Tak officials early on Thursday arrested 16 Thai nationals who crossed back into the province from Myanmar without going through any checks.

The operation was conducted by soldiers and policemen, led by a permanent secretary of the local government in Phop Phra district.

The 16, who were nabbed when they were crossing a strait in Chong Kab subdistrict, travelled from Myanmar’s Myawaddy town and were carrying baggage.

They said they were staff of an online casino in the town.

They were charged with illegal crossing and promptly quarantined in Tak.
