Popular Post webfact
Foreign tourism: Could be 2022 before Thailand sees improvement, business media Image: Bangkok Biz News Thailand's business media reported that it would be the end of next year or into 2022 before the country would see any appreciable return to making money from foreign tourists. Bangkok Business News said that promotions aimed at Thai people to rescue the ailing tourism sector that relied on foreign tourists were clearly not enough to make up the shortfall. Their article principally concentrated on what is known as the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) that encompasses Chonburi (the location of Pattaya) Chachoengsao and Rayong. This area has been the apple of the eye of the Thai government but one like Phuket and Koh Samui that has been devastated by the lack of foreigners that made up 80% of visitors and the great bulk of revenue in the past. The media said that the "Thai Thiaw Thai" (Thais visit Thailand) promotion was inadequate. They noted that coronavirus cases were still increasing throughout the world with no end to the pandemic in sight. Chonburi would normally generate 200 billion baht in tourism revenue per year. In the period of April to October it should have been about 120 billion baht but due to the pandemic the figure was just 33 billion. Thais were even spending less per head than they normally do. Figures showed that last year a Thai on a trip would spend 5,515 baht on average - in September the average spend was just 3,978 baht per head and of course there were far fewer of them travelling as well. Hotel occupancy in Chonburi is just 29% while it was 80% last year. The media said that the special tourist visa scheme was a start and could help to inspire confidence in Thais receiving foreigners into the country once again. But it was just a start and much more was needed to encourage Thais at this time to visit places such as the EEC, Phuket and Koh Samui. Their estimate was that no appreciable return of foreign tourism would occur until the end of 2021 at the earliest and possibly into 2022. Popular Post terryw
Thailand has ordered 20 million Oxford covid vaccines and Astra Zeneca will set up a manufacturing facility. If, as expected following peer review, this vaccine is confirmed as safe and effective, then tourism will start to return to normal from the summer of 2021. 2

Popular Post ourmanflint
There is no "could be" about it, it will definitely not recover until 2022. Even the advent of a vaccine will not help Thailand in 2021, as they will no doubt still be far far too cautious and downright xenophobic when it comes to foreigners visiting their country once again 15 1
Popular Post Guderian
Save us from the sob stories, Thailand is far from being alone in this mess. Spain, which has done its best to stay open for foreign visitors, is only expecting 20 million visitors this year, less than a quarter of its usual annual total. Until things can revert to "normal" (if they ever will), you need to adapt and survive. 3
Popular Post simola
Any vaccine won’t be given to the mass public for many years. Not that they need it. Popular Post OKF
The Biontec/Pfizer Germany was the one with the 90% and the Curevac in Germany will announce same soon we hear. The Oxford had severe problems so far. However those vaccines for such virus not make a lot of sense in imho. Vaccines work well on toxics but not not on RNA. One reason no vaccine found for HIV. Also a vaccine development in a year keeping in mind it is a never before done genetically designed vaccine....seriously? Influenza vaccines never worked that well bcs. of changing viruses and only about 30% rate. This whole thing has nothing to do with cures, they world was taken hostage for a virus that has a fatality rate of 0,23% which Prof. Ioanidis just confirmed. Due to the fact, that governments could unleash power ppl. now begging for a vaccine and the big pharma fills their pocket more. So Mr. & Mrs. Gates lobbying worked great. Angela Merkel said recently that she had good phone conversations with Melinda....seriously? 12 4 3

UK news columns have announced there will be 50 million doses worldwide available shortly, two doses are required per person, and 1.3 billion doses in 2021. Thailand should ask their pals in China for a vaccine, Oh! That's right, the Chinese vaccine has just been stopped in its tracks in Brazil as they have found problems with it..! https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/nov/09/covid-19-vaccine-candidate-effective-pfizer-biontech Edited November 10, 2020 by Scouse123 6

Pfizer has announced a vaccine they say is tested and 90% effective. Australia is already down for 10million, so who are they gonna give it to, if not the public? Looks like time is up for all the 'prophet of Doom' , Faucci style, scare mongering folks.. those who would hide in their basements and restrict anyone else to have a life, just because of their own lack thereof. They could only stretch it so far, especially in all the places that have little (or Zero) Covid problems. It seems they realise now, the public wont tolerate this BS any longer, and therefor, whammo..a miracle cure has come along, where previously it was supposedly going to take years of research and testing. 4
Popular Post Brunolem
No vaccine is going to save anything. The vaccine is just the carrot dangled in front of the sheeple to keep them in check. The death of mass tourism is a necessary loss (more than 10% of global GDP) to push forward the great reset, starting 2021. Thailand should better face the reality, and develop as much as possible domestic tourism, starting with slashing the insane prices still asked by the big hotel chains. 6

I absolutely agree. On a demonstration in August against the government measures in Germany I did talk to a Doctor and she was saying to me that we will hear soon about the 2 RNA vaccines specifically Curevac, which will come out with a promising one. To short of time to develop she was claiming. So I asked her what that vaccine will be, a placebo? She said maybe not a placebo but certainly not a genetical vaccine as announced. She said it would be impossible to do in that time. Edited November 10, 2020 by OKF

Have you looked at any hotel prices? Phuket, Khao Lak and Krabi prices are in general a fraction of the price they should be at this time of year.

This is only exacerbated by the huge inequality here where wealth is concentrated in a small section of society. Mass tourism from the average Thai is simply not affordable and only set to worsen as the economy inevitably suffers from the global downturn. The entire infrastructure is centred around foreign tourism and not easy to downgrade to match cheap entertainment venues you might see upcountry. 1
