Daffy D Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 So I got this pack of Double A color printing paper:- On one side of the packing it has a little notice "COPY This side First" with a little arrow pointing UP. Is there a reason for using one side first? Once the paper is out of the package you can't tell which side is which anyway, so does it really matter which side is used first
DaLa Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 I've used all sorts of paper in my Laser printer. I've never taken any notice which side is up, so what you have pointed out is a complete mystery to me also.

RichCor Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 Milled paper will have a natural 'curve' to it, so in large copier machines it's preferred to load the paper drawers a certain way to cut down on paper jams (especially if doing double-sided copies.) Hence, the tag on the ream of paper you posted: 1 1

Hmm! OK! That makes sense .
Popular Post RichCor Posted November 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2020 If you were to unpack the entire stacked ream and hold it at midpoint just two fingers each hand an allowed to hand you'd notice the 'flex' it greater for one side than when flipped over. This natural bend can get exaggerated if the paper has to go through heated fuser rollers. 3
carlyai Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 You never just load the whole reem. You get small amounts and thumb it through on one side then the other, separating the papers so they won't stick and jam. I thought one side was shinier than the other and this side either went up or down, can't remember. Maybe dreaming.

At work I always load a full ream and never an issue, some documents I print are 400 pages. 1
