webfact Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Thailand confirms SECOND domestic COVID case in as many days - this time in Chiang Rai REUTERS file photo for reference only Thailand’s Department of Disease Control on Sunday confirmed its second domestic COVID-19 case in as many days. The latest case was confirmed in Chiang Rai and comes just 24 hours after a Thai woman tested positive for COVID-19 in Chiang Mai. According to the National News Bureau of Thailand, the patient from Chiang Rai is a friend of the woman who tested positive in Chiang Mai. Both had been working in Myanmar and seemingly returned to Thailand without undergoing the mandatory quarantine period in a state facility - an investigation has been launched into how this was allowed to happen. The patient in Chiang Rai showed symptoms between 16-22 November while she was still in Myanmar. She began to feel better by the 24 November before returning to Thailand on the 26 November, along with her friend who was confirmed as the patient in Chiang Mai. Although they showed no symptoms the pair started in the Mai Sai Inn. On 28 November the Chiang Rai patient discovered her friend in Chiang Mai had been diagnosed with COVID-19. She then went by motorcycle taxi to Bangkok Hospital Chiang Rai where she received testing for COVID-19. The hospital admitted her due to details of her case and symptoms. On 29 November, the test came back positive and she is currently receiving treatment. The DDC has since stated that the second patient did not have a widespread travel history, unlike the first patient in Chiang Mai who had visited a shopping mall and bar. Meanwhile, the authorities on Sunday also said that security will be stepped up along the border with Myanmar to stop illegal entry. However, the permanent checkpoint at the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge will remain open, officials said, in order to maintain important cross border trade. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2020-11-30 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 1 1

webfact Posted November 30, 2020 Author Posted November 30, 2020 Chiang Rai province on COVID-19 alert after two Thais back from Myanmar infected A limited curfew, from midnight until 4am, has been imposed on two bridges linking Mae Sai district, of Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Rai, with Myanmar’s Thachilek township. Trading on the two bridges was also ordered to close at 6pm as the Chiang Rai provincial administration steps up measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 from across the border. Two female Thai bar workers, working in the Thachilek township, slipped back into Mae Sai district last week and both tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday. They are now being treated at Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital. The third, working in the same bar, travelled to Chiang Mai and also tested positive, after she developed symptoms associated with the virus. The infection of the three women, who slipped into Thailand through illegal natural border crossings, has caused alarm among health officials in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces. Hundreds of people who were in close contact with them have been traced by health officials for screening or to be advised to confine themselves at home. Thailand has currently confirmed domestic cases, during cold season, which increases the risk of spreading. I assume you had maths classes in your younger years, and know how multiplying works 2

If one follows the article thoroughly, there are three ladies crossing a natural border from Thachilek to Chiang Rai and importing the plague into Thailand. In other word there are THREE new domestic cases, who may have spread the virus. Hopefully this spread can be limited and stopped. . Sorry I was so fast.

shady86 Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Maybe Thai authorities can start a feasibility study to build the great wall of Thailand across its borders. It could work wonders for tourism post Covid. ???? 1

I'm sorry to say but this thing is far more virulent now and spreads like crazy. After ten months? No, from the beginning. Geneticists have shown there were two strains from very early on designated 614D and its mutation 614G. 614G is much more infective but the disease is not more severe. Because 614D came first, it dominated most of China and Asia. Combined with better preparedness, Asia including Thailand were able to control the virus's spread. 614G seeded Italy, Europe, and the US east coast and spread much more rapidly throughout the less prepared West. Now, almost all the virus in the West is 614G. The worry for Asia is that the faster spreading 614G could get out of control here. Image of how 614G quickly dominated the pandemic. https://ladailypost.com/lanl-newer-variant-of-covid-19-causing-virus-dominates-global-infections/ 2 1

Now because of some selfish individuals more people are likely to contract this + more lives lost just because they were too lazy to quarantine.. ???? 2
