Government House on Wednesday revealed Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha’s slogan for the upcoming Children’s Day.

Thai Children’s Day falls on the second Saturday of every January, or January 9 this time around.

The slogan can be translated as: “Thai children in new normal era unite Thais to build the nation with loyalty and virtue.”

It is a tradition for a prime minister to give the slogan for the day.

Is he going to set it to music?

Something as catchy, inspirational and motivating as that deserves the broadest exposure possible!

I can imagine P3 repeating it with enthusiasm as they march joyfully to class, swinging their arms shoulder high as they go, little faces aglow with excitement at the challenge!

Oh! I was expecting "I'm One of You"!

If it was "I'm One of You"!

That would be one of his first ever near truthful public statements I believe!

PS; I am not sure if I am either being generous to him re his IQ or belittling the Thai kids!

At present, Thais have never been so disunited except shortly before a coup.

The nation doing the building is China.

Thailand's only loyalty is to the baht.

As for virtue, one need only look at his cabinet ministers.

And there was me thinking that Thailand hated communism.

Ah, but Thailand is the land of compromise...

How do "Children unite Thai's to build the nation" - Do children use those white ribbons to physically form a human 'chain' and then once shakled, they are forced into labor?

With loyalty and virtue - To whom should they be loyal? To thine ownself be true? Thai people? Prayut?

It's not terribly clear, but it is pretty terrible.

Snappy, catchy and easy to recall...with sufficient chanting practice during school hours.

Which is basically what the kids at the protest are trying to achieve now....They even have a 3 finger salute to go with it!

BUT........this self appointed junta/govt keeps hitting them with water cannons & worse...

I like the shorter version "Green is Good."

Might be time for him to pen a new hit song?

Are his twelve commandments still recited daily?

1. Upholding of the three main pillars of the country: the nation, the religion, and the monarchy;

2. Honesty, sacrifice, and patience with positive attitude for the interest of the public;

3. Filial piety towards parents, guardians and teachers;

4. Seeking of direct and indirect knowledge and education;

5. Preservation of Thai traditions and cultures;

6. Morality, integrity, considerateness, generosity, and sharing;

7. Understanding and learning of true democratic ideals with His Majesty the King as Head of State;

8. Maintaining of discipline, respectfulness of laws and the elderly;

9. Being conscious and mindful of action in line with His Majesty’s the King’s royal statements;

10. Applying His Majesty the King’s sufficiency economy, saving money for time of need, being moderate with surplus for sharing or expansion of business while having good immunity;

11. Keeping physical and mental strength, unyielding to the evil power or desires, having sense of shame over guilt and sins in accordance with the religious principles;

12. Putting the public and national interest before one’s own
