Shocking video from Nakhon Sri Thammarat in the south of Thailand showed the moment when a pick-up slammed into two Cha-uat district police on a patrol motorcycle.

The footage came from a dashcam in another police pick-up that was going in the opposite direction.

The police vehicle was able to turn round and make a swift arrest of the driver responsible. He was named as Hatchai, 40, and was high on drugs.

Senior police sergeant majors Worameth and Maitree (riding pillion) were found still conscious but severely injured.

They are recovering in Cha-Uat hospital though now out of danger of dying.

They are being kept under observation of doctors after suffering multiple injuries and road rash.

Hatchai admitted charges of negligent driving causing injury and driving while under the influence of drugs.

The commanding officer of the injured men promised full assistance and a visit.

imo he should be also charged with attempted murder without premeditation on 2 police officers

this guy must to be put out of the roads forever

imagine the carnage if it was a group of students crossing the road ?

wish the police were always that fast in catching a perp

sorry for those injured

Bravo! They heroically caught the guy while leaving their comrades injured on the ground. They had time to let one policeman go to assist them, stop traffic as necessary...

It is time for Thailand to come to their senses and start charging people with DUI's (Driving Under the Influence ) this covers driving drunk or on drugs. Then the penalty should be a minim of no less that 20,000 baht's and lost of drivers licenses for 6 months for the first offence. Then double the penalty for the second offence. The 3rd time he loses his licenses and car, truck forever.

If someone is killed it is murder and they should be held in jail until a proper trial.

Attempted murder without premeditation, how does that work ?

If they died the charge would be reckless driving causing death.... Same as Khun Boss.

Double the assistance and forget the visit.

And then the the car with dashcam does an illegal U turn, in front of an oncoming M/C, and blocks the road, potentially causing another accident . Fan-forkingtastic. Keep up the good work guys. :ermm:

In the case of accidental death it is not murder.  Who was killed?

What was illegal about the police vehicle doing a U-turn in those circumstances?   The motorbike was nowhere near to the police pickup, it did not block the road as it did not stop there in the road and did not cause another accident.  I'm surprised that you didn't accuse the police officers that were hit by the pickup of blocking the road while they lay there also.

You can clearly see both crash helmets fell off. Why would that be. I hope they recover fully and soon.
