IT Firefox Browser

Featured Replies

I have Firefox installed on my laptop. But I keep getting invitations to download Firefox...even though I already have it...The message is actually coming from within the Firefox Browser every time I boot up. Why is this happening and how do I stop it?

Try to take a screenshot of the screen with the invitation and post it here.

To stop it.......uninstall Firefox and use Edge or Chrome.

Is this a Firefox visa you are applying for ?

Funny as that may be, I am pretty sure it will make no difference whatsoever. My guess is that it is some kind of spam and not from the Firefox folks.

I agree. See if the message still appears when starting Firefox in safe mode. If not, you probably have a malicious add-on that can hopefully be removed.

Does it appear when you have any particular web page open i.e. does your browser open into favourite page(s) at start-up?

If so, try tracking down which page is responsible.

Thanks all

Sounds like it's just a Firefox Update.  There have been a couple recently.  No problem to download it and install it.

I don't think so, an update wouldn't present itself as an invitation to download Firefox. It sounds more like an attempt to get some kind of malware installed.

I agree but its not calling itself an update.

Maybe the version of FF was so old it required a new download.

Maybe the best way to deal with it would be to uninstall FF and reinstall it, that way you know you have the latest version of FF, and if this pop up continues, you know it's a fake.

As said in the other post, eliminate the update issue by uninstalling and reinstalling with the latest FF.

If it persists, it's fake and a full virus and malware scan should be done.
