A pickup truck overturned accidentally on a road in Nakhon Ratchasima province, scattering over two tonnes of fish it was carrying on the road.

On Saturday, police officers from Non Sung Police Station were informed about the case on highway No. 2.

Police found a Toyota pickup lying on the highway, blocking traffic. Rescue staff and locals helped remove the fish scattered on the road.

The driver of the pickup told police that that he heard a loud noise from his tyre before the car overturned.

The driver suffered injuries. He told police that he was on the way from Nakhon Ratchasima to Kalasin, transporting the fish.

A truck was hired to transport the fish after the accident.

TWO  TONS in a  one ton truck, tyres at 100psi  extra  springs to  attempt to  carry the weight and dont forget to make sure the  tyres probably  bald  almost touch the wheel arches on those super cool new  alloys  in glorious  gold  colour as you see saw to a  halt at traffic  lights, thats when you actually stop and dont forget finally to sit  in the outside lane for mile after mile after  mile............<deleted>

What the hell was going on?

A pickup carrying 2 tonnes of fish,  it probably overturned due to being seriously over loaded.

Wow. Look at all the trash at the side of the road. Looks like the Philippines haha.

There’s something fishy about this story..... ????

Difficult to tell from the picture - did the tyre actually blow out? or just overloaded truck turned over when the driver swerved (fell asleep and woke up ?) ?

What a surprise. Overweight and unstable, probably in water (no visual evidence but the norm up here) just sloshing around.

And just to add to all the ills you can imagine how well the Truck is maintained ?   In all probability the tyres were underinflated for the load and the Guy was driving like he was driving a Ferrari !

Trash? I strongly assume that this is fish in plastic bags?

So here they are according the TV accident investigators ... all the reasons for this mishap:

  • tyres at 100psi
  • extra springs to attempt to carry the weight
  • tyres probably bald
  • seriously over loaded
  • probably water just sloshing around
  • driving like he was driving a Ferrari
  • tyres were underinflated

You know something ... maybe just maybe ... his tyre did blow.

As mentioned above,  looking at the photo it doesn't appear that a tire blew out.

u aint been here  long enough or  have poor  vision, states  already TWO ton of  fish, pick ups  cant carry 2  tons most 1  ton or  less total weight inc passengers  not rated for that but hey knock yerself  out

What does one expect .

The Toyota Hilux Safe load rating is 405 KG , Not 2000+kg that this one was loaded with.

For example, if you deduct the 3200kg braked towing capacity from its 5650kg GCM (or how much it can legally carry and tow at the same time) the 955kg payload limit is more than halved to 405kg - a huge reduction of 550kg or well over half a tonne of payload..

Don't they do that anyway, leave the fish to dry out in the sun?

Yes indeed, very popular but not fish left in polythene bags.

This is news? I see this all the time. I would estimate 89% of these trucks are poorly maintained and severely overloaded by at least twice the braking capacity, and well over the 3 meter hight limit Thai standard. Tires will blow, folks. It's no wonder they have to block the passing lane.
