PHUKET: Tests of more than 7,000 migrant workers on the island have so far failed to identify any persons as infected with COVID-19, the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) Chief has reported.

Health officials across the island began mass tests of migrant workers at worker’s camps and workplaces on Monday, PPHO Chief Dr Thanit Sermkaew confirmed at the press conference last night (Dec 22),

“There have been no COVID-19 infected people found,” he said.

Controlled with the infrared thermometer? yesterday I go the Macro thermometer found me 34 C ° I went out a little worried I was going to die? Then I went to the Homepro and it measured 36.2 I felt relieved

Mass testing of a percentage of the general Thai population of Phuket would present a clearer picture and the positives found could be blamed on contact with migrant workers.......but it might spoil the government illusion of a virtually covid free Thailand and slow the filling of the coffers.

mass testing for covid?
or testing for high temperature?
what about those asymptomatic?

A fever is a common symptom of coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19). However, some people with the disease do not have a fever. A person may have different symptoms or none at all.

According to an April 2020 study, about 55.5% of people with COVID-19 develop a fever. This suggests that a substantial number of people with the disease do not have this symptom.

A big chunk of people who catch COVID-19 -- maybe as many as 40%, by some estimates -- never develop noticeable symptoms.

They don’t run a fever. They don’t cough or feel short of breath, and they don’t get the strange panoply of other symptoms that can herald a COVID-19 infection like frostbite-like bumps on the skin, diarrhea, or the loss of smell or taste.

The one who loves to get drunk like idiot are thai people and they blame workers to get infected.

Whisky brain

The photo shows temperature checking, that's not a covid test in my book given the disease can be infectious when asymptiomatic, also, you can bet your bottom dollar that anyone consciously running a high temperature has found a way to avoid it,  but it's cheap and makes good PR.

If nobody of the 7000 has a high temperature, chances are nil that there are asymptomatic carriers.

BANGKOK — The government’s pandemic response center on Wednesday appeared to adopt a new policy of leaving out numbers of new coronavirus cases in Samut Sakhon in today’s news briefing.

The Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration reported only 46 new cases nationwide today, without mentioning how many were found in Samut Sakhon province, where at least 1,000 cases were discovered in recent days.

Center spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin did not say why the latest update from the province was excluded in the briefing, though he said it will be reported at a later time.

“We’re not going to report the number of cases we found during active case-finding operations among the migrant workers. It now stands at zero at the moment,” Taweesin said. “There are a number of reasons we have to discuss further.”

Yes, I read that. It says that 40% is asymptomatic. With 7,000 people tested, if 10 would be asymptomatic, so not detected with a temperature check, that means 15 would have fever. So chances are slim to none that there are only asymptomatic cases.
