DIY suppliers - carpentry and electronics

Recommended Posts

Lazada seem pretty much my only option, I'm just wondering if there are specialist suppliers that any electronics/DIY geeks could recommend.  At the moment I'm into building some flightcases, tomorrow it might be LEDs and Arduinos.

Microcontrollers and components - Aliexpress

It’s hard to do the spare of the moment projects, best to keep a stock of bits. You can also buy on lazada but i find it hard to constantly shell out 3x the price for something.

Have you bought a 3D printer?

Bought my boy a 3D printer for Christmas, it's amazing what you get for the money...

Googled and watched YouTube and still not exactly sure what a 3D printer is, however amazing technology. Excellent gift. I imagine the price range is lowish to extremely expensive?

As I understand it, 3D printing (AKA Rapid Prototyping) "prints" or generates an object from a solid model file. There are different types, one type uses a "filament" or plastic string that is melted and deposited via motor driven "print" head, this is what I got my boy.

This is the one I got him:

I was pretty surprised by what a robust piece of equipment it seems to be. Comes with everything you need to "print" parts, and he ran one of the programs with it the first day, and make a simple "custom" part the next.

So far he loves it.

Local online:

http://www.es.co.th/index.asp

Local shops:

Ban Mo in Chinatown. That is paradise for DIY electronics. Streets full with shops with everything. Some shops close relative early 16:00.

For Arduino, etc. I often oder from http://banggood.com/ . Delivery to Bangkok is about 10 - 14 days with the slow and cheap shipping. In my experience at least 90% of what I bought was according to my expectations.

Where did you buy it? Local?

A friend ordered a 3D printer from China. Import restricted, money lost.

As far as I know it's illegal to import 3D printers to Thailand.

I ordered the one in the picture from the company in the picture, "3D Printer Korat". Quick response pre-sale via chat. In-stock and delivered COD in less than 48 hours. I got my money's worth already...

Good, enjoy!

Now I also use chat before I buy something "expensive". Good sellers reply fast and with competent answers. If they don't answer or rubbish answers then that it's a reason to avoid them - at least IMHO.

The idea about my post was that people are warned not to try to a import 3D printer only to find out too late that it's illegal.

Maybe some people get lucky and are able to import it. But don't count on it.

If you need parts for Ender printers at notice, in2real3D.

If the printer messes up so bad that you are ready to bin it, there’s a guy Nutt (techno shop) on 089 130 7465 who can service and fix and service them.
