Girlfriend flying out of Thailand, where can she get tested?

Featured Replies

My girlfriend is flying out of Bangkok on Saturday, January 9, and she needs to get tested one or two days before she leaves. Anyone know where that is possible, either in Hua Hin (where she lives) or in Bangkok? And how much does it cost?

In lieu of someone offering first hand information that they themselves have taken a covid test I would imagine any of the hospitals associated with the ASQ hotels.

Thus: Take a look at the ASQ hotels nearest you / your GF, check which hospital they are linked to and give that hospital a call.

Make sure its a Covid-19 PCR Test (swab from throat and nasal cavity) and not just an antibody test (blood test).

Results are usually next day.

Additionally: A quick google search brings up lots of info and results - it took just a few minutes to all the following info.

Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin  (6300 baht)

Bangkok Hospital (6500 baht)

Thai Travel Clinic at Mahidol Uni, Bangkok (3500 baht)

Sometimes not the easiest website to use:

https://www.etihad.com/en-gb/travel-updates/all-destinations-travel-guides#multi-step-form-wrapper

Enter Bangkok in the Enter Your Origin or Destination City and then scroll down and click on Flying From Bangkok. You will then see a list of test centres.

As the Bangkok Hospital is on their list, its possible that the Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin can do the test - check with them.

Amazing variation in prices there Richard - 14,000 down to 3500! Same test as far as I know - maybe no coffee at the Bangkok Hospital for Tropical Diseases ????.  Quite how Bumrungrad justify the 14,000 tag is beyond me.

Call Chulabhorn hospital, Bangkok. By the main entrance is a room set aside for testing.

Can anyone explain why it is so expensive? There must be very huge profit margins here, where is it all going? Who is all getting a share of it?
