My farang friend is handsome, young and has a good job. He is single.

Oh wonderful, I have a Thai friend from school who is now divorced and has a child. We should introduce them! 

Has anyone else noticed this pattern? Is it because Thai people think that farang are more accepting of women with children or is it just that they think that farangs are all a bunch of  losers and below Thais on the social scale?

I only notice this behavior in Thailand.  

I think in a lot of cases where they are intriducing a divorced Thai woman with children (especially if she is from a poor background) they know she has few options with local men and a farang will be not just a better choice, he might be her only chance. They might pitch it as a great opportunity for the farang guy but really they are helping out their Thai friend who has few options.

Hard to find a Thai girl over 16 that doesn't have a kid. Thailand must be the single mother capital of the world.  There seem to be less the higher you move up the social scale but a lot of those girls won't entertain a 'dirty farang'. Why would they? If they're good looking they can easily become a Mia Noi to a multi millionaire with a condo and car etc. thrown in.

Allow me to observe there are quite a few rural village girls who are just as good-looking as any Hi-So. My GF's daughter is an absolute stunner.

There does seem to be a division of chaste vs promiscuous girls in the rural villages, some families are quite strict. My GF was a virgin when she got married at age 23, had the daughter two years later. So they are not all sluts.

I tend to agree Thais view Thai women who are with farangs as spoiled goods. Doesn't worry me, just another indication of their narrow-minded thinking. Plenty of Western men here who are very happy to be pampered by their Thai wives and GF's, me included.

As far as becoming a mia noi to a multimillionaire goes, IMO demand would far outstrip the multi-millionaire supply.

 

Because they know we're suckers and don't know any better.

My father in law hates the fact his daughter married a quiet farang and takes care of her and didn't stay with the hiso Thai man that continually beat her up.

Seems you know the wrong girls!
Most woman I know not have children. If you look at working woman (Office jobs in Bangkok for example) then the situation is much different to maybe low paid jobs which they work in as they have stopped their schools because of a child.

And even there I think it's not that bad as you paint the picture. It's like with everything the bad example you feel to happen more often.

Where did I compare looks?

 

It would be extremely rare for a seriously rich guy to choose a village girl for his mia noi - the class system is alive and kicking (hard) in Thailand.

And by the way, I'm not painting any bad pictures - my wife was a single mother.  I am simply saying that I have never known anywhere else with as many single mums.  The usual story is that as soon as a girl gets pregnant, the Thai boyfriend legs it.

ill wager the vast majority of thai disagree with you. unless the village girl is light skinned and a certain look about her then hi so thai men/thai women would think of her as less than.

It it smart to marry a woman who has already one or more kids?

The kids will ALWAYS be her first priority.

Why should we be satisfied with being her 2nd priority - best case?

Agreed, in foreign eyes, my ex was a stunner but was considered ugly by most Thais - simply because she was dark skinned.

To Thai women with kids getting a Farang who has a good job and doesn't have to live in a slum is like winning the Lottery, I have heard it said.

Personally I would never get involved with a Thai woman with kids, you will always be the "Farang" you will always be expect to provide nothing ever comes back.

And, they show no respect one g/f many years ago had a kid that was back up in sticky rice land and when we visited a few times all he ever said was Farang this Farang that, tell him my name is not Farang.

After many years of being here I have a big circle of Thai friends the only ones with kids are the ones who are married none of the single ones have a kid, they all live a good life and have well paid jobs.

It's when you mix in the wrong circles like your local bar scene most of them girls have kids it didn't take me long to work out what goes on they all dream of getting a farang who can take them out of the bar, not all them some never leave the bar.

The biggest problem I found was the amount of debt they are in and that can be kids or no kids, they must have this notion in their heads finding a farang to pay off their debts.

It's never happened to me, but I have seen were they have gambling debts that never stops, That is an addiction

I am also spoiled goods .......... and so have few problems consorting with single moms.

You have to look what kind of farangs they often (have to) accept. People like myself - old, fat and ugly. If you are like this you are more willing to make compromises when you choose a lady and so these ladies and their child(ren) will find more likely an idiot that supports them.

Maybe I not life on the countryside as there could be different. But in Bangkok none of the unmarried females I know personally have children.

About BF leave her girlfriends when they become pregnant I not want say different, this seems a famous problem which even Thais are aware of, and ignore it. (It's sad, they not made the boys accountable for the child as in many western countries). But my guess it has to do with the learning system as many other problems as well.
