It would be interesting to know which politicians/army generals/police chiefs are the owners of these golf courses ....

  • very sensible, yet another good decision by the authorities.

what if you dont own any golf bats?

It's probably going to be 150-300k for this package. It's a nice option but far too expensive for most people that will be visiting Thailand under these circumstances.

Given that the first week of ASQ involves being locked in your room and only then after a negative Covid test are you allowed to use the gym or sit on the rooftop or whatever for a limited time each day, it might be worth the extra cost even if you're not a golfer just to get out of doors for a few hours every day and get some exercise walking around the course.

It crossed my mind

I wonder what the playing rates will be for the "captive" guests - and presuming no other non quarantined golfers will be playing there whilst they operate as an ASQ........

At Artithaya In Chiang Mai they have been charging 600 baht which includes green fee, caddy and car for the last 3 months, the result is they have been very busy. They cannot entertain non quarantine golfers once they have quarantine players there. I can only imagine the fees will be much much higher to compensate the lose of many golfers already playing at the course.

They are probably hopeful of applying a simple Thai business philosophy.

Less people, more money.

Because of this it's doomed to failure, unless some smarts are applied and the Golf courses offer super cheap or even free golf, given that they are already in front by having many more guests staying in their rooms

I would guess less and around 100,000 b.

Koreans and Japanese have money and many come here for golf holidays.

I bet they would show strong interest in this option.

I just told my mum and dad of this news. They are keen golfers, live near a golf course. They also come to Thailand during the Aussie winter for 3-4 months per year.

Mum is already looking into it. I have played golf with them a few times in Thailand and they love it with the caddies and service. Siam Country Club probably their favorite.

A really good idea from the Thai authorities allowing a more enjoyable quarantine period while also keeping the local population safe. I suspect the Koreans will also take this up in big numbers. Other countries will probably copy it.

this is the real sheer desperation, they have tried anything and everything to bring in tourists but they didn't try to remove the basic of hurdles which are all the visa restrictions and an expensive baht

So you expect Thailand to illegally manipulate their currency to make a few cheap Charlie tourists happy?

Do you understand how forex works?

Maybe every country should devalue their currency to make it cheaper for tourists? Good plan right?

Does Artithaya have another name? Because i've never heard of it. Where is it located, please?

Get with the program, you need to know the difference between a baffy, cleek, spoon, mashie and niblick. Not to mention a president.

So, I called the courses from online info.

Mida said it is 116,000 b.  Caddie optional.

After the first day you are tested with results in 24 hours.  After that, your are free to play, eat, and roam the premises it is locked down only for ASQ golfers.  First booking date is Jan. 30.  Then a second date of Feb. 14.

At Blue Star some dude answered and when I asked he laughed at me and hung up.

Sawang said they know nothing at this point and have a meeting scheduled.

Evergreen could provide no details on their plans for this.

Also, Artitaya near Nakhon Nayok no habla English they hung up on me.

And, like I posted yesterday Artitaya Chiang Mai told me they are not doing ASQ.

So who knows, it appears the only course that has a definite plan at this point appears to be Mida.

Just use a cricket bat.  The end result should be even better, it is lighter than a bag of golf bats,  and you won't even need a bag to carry it.

I changed Mida.

116,000 b  starting not 160,000.

They sent me this info.

I trust your post was made in jest. Unless one breaches about half-a-dozen Rules of Golf by picking the ball  up and welting it in mid-air, it will be a long day on the golf course. Hitting the ball on the ground will get you 30 metres further at most.

Please tell me how the bat works in a bunker/sand trap, I'm always interested in new techniques.

Social distancing, no caddy, no masks play alone, no beer NO IDEA, they should give everyone of these geniuses in Government the trail vaccine first to see if has a side affect of making sensible well educated statements, they certainly do need a needle , maybe they should get few million doses of the green needle and give them 2 shots each problem solved

Downside: the Trumps for quarantine-mates

Buy a racket cheaper than "golf bats"  que the bat jokes.

That's a bit derogatory to the caddy's.

Just cheat like Trump and kick it out.

You can bring with you one of those cue thingies that unscrew in the middle for easy transportation. With no caddies to heft the usual bag of sticks it will be easier. Don't  forger that you will need an International Driving Permit as well as a National Drivers Licence if you rent a golf cart.

One assumes that all staff at these golf resorts: reception, caddies, professionals, greenkeepers, catering staff, housekeeping staff, delivery drivers, maintenance men will all be tested -- regularly?

And the wealthy 'quaranteers' will also be checked regularly of course -- and perhaps play in 'bubbles' of 2, 3, or 4 people only -- to ensure containment should any test positive?

One also assumes that all this will have been taken into . . . 'consideration'?

But You will not be able to Play The 19th Hole for a Beer or other familiarities.

Agreed, it sounds a lot more attractive than sitting in a room all day, even for those of us who don't play. But if this is possible for golfers, why isn't something similar possible - albeit without golf - for other large resorts? Let the inmates wander around the grounds or the beach, far away from one another, without limiting it to an hour in a little yard. It could undoubtedly be arranged if they wanted to make it happen.

Well spotted.

And will the course staff and caddies be isolating on site??

So resident golfers will have to find somewhere else while this goes on??

I just called the hotel, they told me it costs approx 200.000 bht for 2 weeks...

If thats true, its Insanity.....   Assuming 50,000 baht for the Transport, accommodation and food etc

That leaves 150,000 for the golf - 15 days - thats 10,000 baht per round (per day).

My ASQ cost 45,000 baht, a hotel in Sukhumvit central Bangkok - The golf course accommodation is usually fairly basic and nowhere near the standards of a regular hotel.

A total of ±50000 baht for a Golfing ASQ would be a reasonable figure to charge.

2000 baht for Transport

25,000 baht for accommodation and food.

10,000 baht for Covid-19 tests

±1000 baht per round of golf (14 days)

Anything much more than this and I struggle to see people wanting to do this...

Excellent work sir.

Can I opt for a quarantine on Soy Cowboy? Free booze and bars for 14 days?
