But allowing these workers into the country, legal or illegal, is the driving force behind bring wage rates down....what a pity people cannot remain and work in their own country, but cannot afford to because of the greed of unprincipled business owners and politicians who don't care..

I and many other people worked offshore. I did for nearly 20 years bringing particular skills to countries that had nobody trained or qualified to do the job. Part of my job was to train in country staff to take over from us. I spent 4 months in Thailand in 1993 working on the AIS network and came back in 1994 to 97 doing the same for DTAC. I came back in 2001 for 18 months building the BKFT digital network and stayed another 9 months helping to relocate cell sites for DTAC. I did the same in about 20 other countries for Motorola and again as a self employed contractor. As the countries got more knowledgeable the jobs became fewer and the rates dropped for us. I have a couple of Aussie mates who are underground explosive mining experts who are FIFO in Thailand. The reason that Thailand accepts both legal and (blind eye) illegals, are because many Thais don't want to do some of the jobs, and certainly not for the money that they would be offered.
