The positive news regarding the Covid-19 vaccine has sparked a boost in booking of travel arrangements to Thailand from Finland and Sweden and now Denmark is following the trend. Bookings to Thailand is amongst the most popular destinations for the second half of 2021.

Last week Søren Brostrøm, Director General of the Danish Health Authority announced that it is expected that all Danes will be vaccinated by the end of June 2021 and with that date in mind, Danes are now eyeing the opportunity to travel abroad again.

The extremely positive announcement has been met with a sharp increasing in holiday bookings for several travel companies in Denmark. Mikkel Hansen, communication manager at Tui’s says in an interview with Jyllands-Posten, that the announcement from the government resulted in an increase of 129 percent in travel bookings compared to the day before.

I'm sure i heard about these Vikings from Norway coming a few months ago too.

By ship, and with Battle axes in hand more than likely as a raiding party.

The combined population of Sweden, Finland, and Denmark is about 20M...so all Thailand has to do is get everyone in them to visit twice this year to get back to the pre-Covid tourist number of 39M.

It is possible that people from other countries, not just the Scandinavian ones, may be eager to travel after a year of lockdown and not spending money on going out.

I don't doubt it...but the op specifically mentions these three countries.

This is the same publication that was predicting that approximately half the population of Finland would be gracing Phuket's beaches next December. Nothing but overhyped drivel.

According to the article, all Danes will have been vaccinated by the time the first Thais receive their jabs. Tourism won't get back to anything like normal until the majority of Thailand's population is also vaccinated.

Thailand’s attempts to lure people here by exaggerating tourism figures are pitiful, the SETV did not attract the numbers they quoted and the Chinese early tourists numbers faded into obscurity. These Danes ,and Finns, are not coming !!

I understand that the lack of tourism here is hurting the economy but lulling people, who work in the tourism sector, into a false sense of security is just plain wrong !!

I see the 10 million ( imaginary ) tourists this year has already been changed to 5 to 10 million, expect that to drop again soon.

Admit it Thailand, tourists coming here this year will be few and far between unless you are gonna invite a load of Chinese investors and call them tourists ..... again !!

from the title I have imagined, that they are trying to escape vaccination and run away to thailand.

Thailand doesn't have any vaccinations and prospects for having one for a foreigner stretch now to some 2023, so enough time to estimate efficacy and potential side effects of vaccination.

in sweden there were some 28 deaths, norway some 23 deaths in seniors associated with recent vax.

No rational person is planning leisure holidays on another continent, even if they are planning to be vaccinated in the near future.

It's enough that in the destination country there is no/very little vaccination being done, so small chance that country would allow mass tourism without quarantine, just with with vax certificate.

By the autumn there well might be the third or even forth wave, with all countries in lock down and 2 weeks quarantine in each travel direction

28 deaths and 23 deaths out of how many vaccinated?  Did they, or did they not already have co-morbidities?  Death is already associated with seniors, whether or not they get vaccines.
About 70 million people now vaccinated in the world, and the number is growing quickly each day.
No vaccine is perfect. A few people die from allergic anaphylactic shock to one or more ingredient in vaccines. But a few people also die from eating nuts or shellfish for the same reason.
The cost - benefit must be weighed. Is it worth it if a few die, but millions are saved?

October : Extended closure sparks huge Nordic demand for plane ticket and hotel refunds

We are still waiting for our TG 2020 March refunds ????

Even if many Nordics  would like to come to Thailand their finances have been decimated by this year long pandemic with governments overreacting with harsh measures. Airlines are on the brink of bankruptcy. Tickets might be awfully expensive with those few airlines still flying for years to come.

Norwegian announced last month they will stop long-haul flights as part of corporate restructuring to avoid bankruptcy. I'd suspect a lot of other airlines will do the same to stay afloat.

They obviously don't know that Thailand is closed. Bangkok is a ghost town, Pattaya likewise, Phuket and Koh Samui are empty. Most tourist oriented restaurants are closed, and don't even mention the current alcohol ban.

Welcome tourists, enjoy the misery....
