I'd imagine most of the bars have been liquidated already. Theres no recovery from this. If Thailand are not even rolling out vaccine until June at 5m a month (link from Thaivisa news) then we have to accept that it will take 12 months plus to get through the Thais so probably at best we're unlikely to see an open border till 18 months from now

Theres virtually nothing left in Pattaya now and in 18 months time just the bricks and mortar will remain

You are correct, but the difference is in Amsterdam, Las Vegas etc the authorities accept that it happens and make it legal. In Thailand the authorities do not accept prostitution happens, even though it is pretty much everywhere! Like a lot of things in Thailand they bury their head in the sand

Stuff the Baht rate......   this tourist wont return till the quarantine is lifted - 2 weeks of that would cost me much more than rate variations.

In fact, the rate is actually better for Brits now than it was this time last year! (More than 41 as I write this; 40.something on the street a year ago!)

Actually they know exactly what's going on but they can extort the venues if prostitution remains illegal.

I'm probably wrong, but I think this has had such a devastating effect, that it won't come back as it was before.

Should be really strong motivation for Thai government to speed up the vaccine distribution with multiple sources not just AstraZeneca and allow private hospitals to source and distribute- and minimize any quarantine for vaccinated international travelers....so much can be done but I don’t see it happening with real urgency. My friends in CA in their 70’s are already vaccinated with Pfizer. In the USA alone over 1.5 Million are being vaccinated Each Day with Moderna or Pfizer. AstraZeneca is not even approved yet in the USA but Thailand is apparently relying solely on that less effective vaccine.

Thailand should be considering Sputinik V from Russia. This vaccine was being mocked everywhere and now that the results were published on Lancet magazine, even Germany wants to buy it. It's more than 90% effective. Pfizer is out of question for Thailand as the production is very limited at the moment.

I feel for those people having given up hope. Its not their fault. Like their "entertainment" businesses or not, legal or not, seedy or not, they prospered in the good days and there was no reason for them to believe it would end like this!

 

For those living in and around Pattaya, including ex-pats, there can't be that many who would wish what is now a reality and knowing quite a bit of the heart and soul has left the place.

 

And it isn't just Pattaya!

 

The world is suffering. Let's hear it for resolution to this pandemic.

10.  Will the vaccinated be able to gather?

11.  What is the real benefit of vaccination?
A government Response - The virus won't kill you.

13.  If statistically the virus won't kill me anyway ... Why would I get vaccinated?"

They are vaccines, and mRNAsequencing  have been being formulated for over 5 years,(also in Thailand for Thai specific diseases, with Euro/USA partners) they have been attenuated to no longer cause the inflammatory resopnses found in previous trials, so to say they are not "vaccines" is untrue. 

 

The efficacy will be seen fairly soon in various countries, and cotonavirus type vaccines have been researched for several decades and approved in many countries for many decades.
