Some Jomtien bars having licence problems?

Recommended Posts

I hear that the bars in Jomtien Complex have been closed by the authorities for 2 days, and possibly other bars in Jomtien as well.

Apparently, the police have told them they don’t have the right licences and don’t qualify for one because it’s a ‘residential area’. I guess thicker envelopes are needed but does anyone know details?

They’ve been open for 20 years!

Being long time in the wrong doesn't create a right

nb: i have no idea about the exact situation at this specific place

I was just wondering if it’s any more widespread than just the Complex, as was suggested to me, as I regularly use bars not far from there.

’If’ a zoning issue is the excuse then it’s unlikely to be just the one small area.

You mean a large establishment like Hemingways?

No, they’ll have a restaurant licence. It’s the smaller bars near there that I was wondering about.

In any case, it looks like the problem has been dealt with - at least for now. Bars can open again.

The RTP are facing hard times according to their chief being billions of baht in debt, you can be assured all revenue streams are/will be looked at with a fine chopstick.

Does anyone know the zoning designation of Soi 7 and Soi Whitehouse?  Tons of bars but a few big residential condos, too.  Someone is on the wrong end of the stick.
