Thailand chief of immigration Pol Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang and some of his top brass at IB HQ gave details of several of their latest cases.

Two were of particular interest regarding a South Korean gambling operation and a tricky Taiwanese plastics' firm boss.

In the first case immigration arrested Dong, 29, Yong, 30, and Hun, 29 all South Koreans at a condo in the Chong Nonsi area of Yannawa, Bangkok.

They were operating three gambling websites for customers in their home country as administrators handling customer accounts and queries.

They were paid 100,000 each a month plus 30,000 baht living expenses.

They said they worked for a Mr Lee, a compatriot.

The daily turnover of the operation was between 2 and 3 million baht.

They were charged with illegal working.

Fifteen staff had complained that Jang had withheld 1,887,212 baht from them in overtime, holiday pay and end of employment benefits.

He was given 30 days to pay what was due (plus 15% interest) but failed to do so resulting in his arrest.

He is the boss of a plastic exporting company in Krathum Baen in the province to the south west of Bangkok.
