Electric and water bill rental property

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone tell me the downside of putting the water and electric in a tenants name in case they run up a bill

  • Popular Post

If the tenant runs away without paying the landlord will still ultimately be liable because power and water won't be reconnected until the arrears are paid.

I think it's still the case, that changing a name on electric and water bills attracts fees of 2,000 and 900 baht respectavly.

We have a block of nine apartments, my wife bills the tenants monthly for the water and electricity which they pay with the rent.

Have never had a problem.

If you put the tenants on the electric and water bills you will not be able to check they are paying especially at the end of their tenancy and you will still have to pay for reconnection

If I remember correctly you cannot put any of these bills in a tenants name as the meters are in the owners name.....
