Man threatens to kill wife after she discovers his ‘mia noi’

A disgruntled Thai wife went to the police in Udon Thani in Thailand's north east yesterday with a tale the very opposite of marital bliss. 

 

It comes as the whole of Thailand is discussing relationships after a Thai wife went to her husband's second marriage to his mistress armed with a marriage certificate. 

 

This case is entirely separate. 

 

"A", 43, from Nong Han district registered a complaint against "Ek", 45 (both assumed names). 

 

She told the police that he threatened to kill her if she didn't leave their house that they had set up together over 24 years of marriage.They have two sons aged 21 and 17.

 

She said that he works in a sugar factory and she has a salon. 

 

They had lived together happily, she claimed, until he started getting all jealous at the start of the year and accused her of chatting with other men on her phone.

After he chased her out of their home she said she went to stay with friends for her own safety planning to return home when he had cooled down.

 

On Valentine's Day she thought he would have cooled off so she went back bearing roses but he slapped her face and told her to get out.

 

So she went to her dad's. 

 

Since then she has been sent pictures of her husband with his mia noi - a mistress or minor wife - cuddling and in a hotel. 

 

A said she is entirely innocent of any infidelity but her husband is putting it about that she is guilty and he is as pure as the driven snow. 

 

The police listened to this tale of woe and advised her to get more evidence and sue for divorce. 

 

Though they did say they would call the husband in to ask him about those threats to kill her.

Udon Thani Police called Ek's mobile number provided by his wife:

Hello, um, is that Mr Ek ?

 

Ek: Who's this ?

 

Udon Thani Police: This is Senior Constable Rachuigai Nueangklung from Udon Thani Police Station.

 

Ek: Yeh, what do you want ?

 

Udon Thani Police: Your wife A has lodged a complaint today that you threatened to kill her.

 

Ek: Yeh, and ?

 

Udon Thani Police: We just wanted to know if you were going to kill her still. 

 

Ek: Depends.

 

Udon Thani Police: Depends on what ?

 

Ek: Whether she turns up here again.

 

Udon Thani Police: Oh, ok, so if she doesn't turn up there again, she's safe.

 

Ek: Yeh, I guess so.

 

Udon Thani Police: Ok, we will call her and tell her not to turn up there anymore so she can be safe.

 

Ek: Yeh, ok, good bye.

Another sad story. What more proof does she need? She has been sent pictures.

If he wants a new girl, then he should just divorce and split the assets. Take the loss as a man, instead of a moron that whats to kill just because his wife does not get to keep and eat the cake.

That indeed would be silly as it would mean she would lose everything. She needs to be able to show that she has done nothing wrong.

 

Soon to be exhusband is probably telling everyone she left to be with her other man - it is a Trump-style move in that you tell everyone the lie and keep repeating it so that eventually at least some people believe it.

That is not how the "men" of Thailand do it, they usually use a gun.
