Valjean
Peninsula or Hilton on the other side of the river are good. Get a view of the river plus Bangkok from a distance. Just not cheap.
bangkapiboy
Baiyoke Hotel is the highest hotel in Thailand I think... Great view.
issanpaul
Looking for a hotel where I can find some great views of Bangkok, the higher the better. Budget ? Bayoke is the tallest i still beleive, the last i heard of is the higher ur room and suite/room the higher the tariff goes, maybe 2k plus bht per night for starters if you get smart and use internet discount and not rack rate,it is however a very good view depending on choice of room. The Skipper
Peninsula or Hilton on the other side of the river are good. Get a view of the river plus Bangkok from a distance. Just not cheap. YES. These two have the best views in town. Also a treat to use their free boat shuttle boat... drop you off at the Skytrain.
VocalNeal
Not sure of the name but the revolving resaurant in Chinatown has a good view. Grand China Princess?
thohts
At the Peninsula, all rooms have a view of the river. I recommend around the 15th floor to get close enough to the river.. at night there are many boats with lights, so it makes for a pleasant view. They sometimes have a discounted price on Ratestogo.com, but not usually.
think_too_mut
Baiyoke Hotel is the highest hotel in Thailand I think... Great view. It's in the heart of the town, so the view would be from the town over what can be seen of it and towards the suburbs, right? In the picture, Bayoke is that tallest building on the horizon right from the centre, the hotel is top part of the tower. To have the view of the town, step a bit aside (Ratchadaphisek, Hotel Grand (formerly known as Nikko) and see the city like this (including the Bayoke hotel): Even better view of the city can be had from the Fortune hotel (it was less than 2000B when I checked last time, it's that white building in the cluster of tall buildings closer to the camera on the left, sitting atop Fortune City - equivalent to Pantip Plaza. Carefour, Robinsons and everything are underneath): Edited May 19, 2007 by think_too_mut
think_too_mut
This one is from the Emporium Suites. Bayoke Tower is centre top. My desire to stay there vanished when I realized it's nightmare to get in and out. Although central, it's ill positioned towards traffic.
flyer
Book a 'river view room' at the Hilton Millenium on the highest possible floor. Tell the receptionist you are a hobby photographer and want to make pictures of BKK from as high as possible. Book direct trought INternet for best rate. Bayoke is not the best as you will only have a one-sided view of BKK, unless you change rooms. The Millenium is on the other side of the river so you have all the city to see. I also got stunning views (360 panoramic) by spending some time taking from the Bayoke roof terrace restaurant. Go there during the morning - like 10 am (this is also the clearest time of the day in BKK) and you have a good chance they will let you do.
