Burglar Arthit Kinkhunthot, 22, made a couple of mistakes when he went thieving on Sunday night.

First he chose to steal from a police sergeant's house.

But his second error was a little worse.

Instead of actually stealing anything he said he felt tired and decided to have a quick nap.

So he turned on the air in the cop's daughter's room, pulled over the covers and snuggled down nice and cozy.

Only trouble was he slept all night and in the morning the house owner - Snr Pol Sgt Sakda Jiamprasert - noticed that the air was on in his other house but his daughter was away in another province.

Sakda peered in through the window and saw Arthit and called for back-up.

He didn't really need it. On being woken from his deep slumbers Arthit was drowsy and confused and no trouble.

He was arrested along with his tools and charged with burglary at night, trespass and damage.

He said that he had been on the prowl and unable to get into other property until he came to this house.

But after getting into the bedroom he was overcome with tiredness and decided to take a short nap so he turned on the air and chilled. The next thing he knew 2am had turned into morning and he was not under the covers....

But under arrest!

The drama played out at two houses in the Nam Rorn sub-district of Wichianburi in Petchabun province in north eastern Thailand yesterday.

Daily News called the burglar the ultimate in "chill".

Oh come on Arthit! Take a nap at home BEFORE you commit burglaries! You know how tiring it is! I think you need to change your amulets too, they're not luck-eee!

Perfectly qualified to leave his life of crime behind and take up a position as a night time security guard ....

Note to self:

When doing break-ins, do it during the day when people are at work, and do not take any substances before or during or after, also, no sleeping on the job.

I have seen sleeping on the job before but this is criminally ridiculous... give a bad name to thieves everywhere...

sort of like the people who work on my house.

Some guys are natural criminals, and some are not. Some are cold, calculating, smart, and cunning. And then some are proof of Darwin's theories. This guy needs to find some real work.

It would seem that 'lap nai' has spread from road traffic accidents to house burglars now.

Obviously a growth industry.

He was doing his "training" to become a cop.

Work experience for his future role as Ltd. General.

Allo ’allo ’allo, what’s going on here, then?

Too stupid and tired to do even the simplest of tasks.

And the rest

Not much of a burglar, but that Powerpoint!

Imagine if he'd broken into a police station he would have been surrounded by sleeping cops.

Footnote- we're always told how the police are badly paid yet the one above owns at least two houses.

The only thing that would make this more Thai is if the cop gave the kid some press-ups and jumping-jacks to do and then wai and let him go.

Wish I could sleep that soundly.

Come off a yaba streak and you will sleep for days.
