Just wondering if there are any travel restrictions. I am considering going to Udon Thani around Songkran or just after for a week or so. What can I expect regarding travel from BKK and return by car.

Thanks in advance of your replies.

You may see unmanned check points, you will probably encounter lots of roadworks as they seem to be ripping it up everywhere ! Thats my experience anyway.

CharlieH, That is normal. I am more interested in if there are any covid restrictions I would have to follow.

None.

It has just been reconfirmed through the news that there will be no restrictions for Songkran travel (and not been since long).

Just after please!

Or do you really want to experience Songkran travel to Isan?

200 km stop and go, average speed at about 35 km/h, three lanes become five, hools passing you left on the green, queues to filling/rest stations backing to the highway, taking pee roadside?

All other ways of travel (air, bus, train) packed.
