As I guy rapidly getting past his best, i've been looking around for stuff to increase my quality of life.

I don't really believe anything will help, but if it's a reasonable price, i'll give it a go.

so far,

Saw Palmetto ....... does nothing for me, wasted my money.

Ginger tea with honey ....... boiled slices of ginger root, with a dash of honey ....... does nothing for me, but not a bad drink as an alternative to coffee or tea, and costs almost nothing.

Black Cocoa powder (P3), unsweetened Vegan .......... seems to have restored my 'lower parts' to full functionality (very surprised), one teaspoon cocoa plus 2 of sugar, blended in a glass of milk for a very pleasant strong dark chocolate drink. 150bht for 500gm delivered from Lazada, not even expensive. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i1603058434-s4375002348.html

Does anyone have any other suggestions, for anything that improves your quality of life in old age, without costing a fortune?

In addition, suggest you look at the role of nutrition and fasting, which of course, cost far less (not ignore the role of supplements).

Why we get sick by Dr. Benjamin Bikman, Bringham Young Univ, USA

A complete guide to fasting by Dr. Jason Fung, nephrologist (kidney expert)

And the Diabetes Code by Dr. Jason Fung

The cocoa powder worked in 3-5 days.

Before I was starting OK, but losing interest before the end most of the time.

After my morning cocoa, I was finishing the race with no problem.

The cocoa powder, never tried it, you say that it tastes like drinking a nice dark chocolate? And as a bonus it picks things up downstairs too?

It's 119bt on Lazada now. I'm tempted.

If the bottom has dropped out of your world - drink a glass of freshly juiced lemon juice and warm water before breakfast.

Believe me, at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon the world will drop out of your bottom!

It may not help your "performance" but it will certainly take your mind off such worries for a while!

Hit the nail on the head.....unless it is scientifically proven to do so of course.......then we give those things a special name......medicine.

I'm amazed it works ......... the first herbal supplement I've had that did anything at all.

H.e.l.l of a dark chocolate milkshake as well.

Even if it does nothing for you it's a fraction of the price of Nestle chocolate milkshake powder from Makro.

Makes great chocolate and banana smoothies as well.

1 banana, 1 teaspoon cocoa, 2 teaspoon sugar, glass of milk, handful of ice.

OP original comment above

You can buy the cocoa powder DUTCH brand and add sugar / milk seperately or keep it vegan and add honey and soy milk.
Try it with coffee preferably black and ease back on the sugar.

I've upped the ante through my '70s with Androderm testosterone patches.  Currently eyeing anti-aging supplements metformin and NMN-- discussed in David Sinclair, Why We Age and Why We Don't Have To.

Proviron* does not convert to estrogen, nor does it effect the HPTA**.

Many guys take 50mgs a day.

Fachinos sells 50 25mg tablets for 510 baht.

Did you miss this in my OP.

You should mention that it can cause hair loss (on the head), hair growth (on parts that are not the head) and acne.

anti-aging supplements  metformin

this is an anti-diabetic medicine. Works in the liver, but as well in intestines, eliminating some bacteria.

In diabetic patients extends lifespan by 9 years over those taking other anti-diabetic medicines.

I have read it should be recommended to everybody over 55 yr.

For those with family history of diabetes even earlier

I've been giving Hubby a Centrum Silver for Men daily for about 20 years now.  Unlike the regular Centrum Silver tabs, they contain more B vitamins, something older men need.  Lack of B vitamins can cause symptoms that mimic dementia.  I know it's not "herbal", but it's a good multivitamin that gets the job done.

I drink a cup of fresh ginger root every day.  Ginger is good for keeping your stomach happy (no upsets).

I take a daily 'swig' of borax ant killer (!), gives me boron mineral (note - dosage carefully checked, no risk of poisoning myself!)

I eat a 100g bag of mixed nuts daily for further essential vitamins and protein (don't eat too many nuts - they have a high calorie count and may give you too many essential minerals - an excess of selenium for example, will boost hair loss...)

I inject twice-weekly with testosterone, as prescribed by mediconsult after relevant PSA etc blood work checks.

I take a Centrum 50+ multi-vit pill daily

I make my own keffir milk - gotta keep those good bacteria in my body happy...

I eat a salad usually daily, plus 5-6 Km daily walk or jog.
