Clarification please on 30 September rule for STV

Featured Replies

At bottom is a quote from the application instructions for the STV on the Australian embassy website.

If I've understood correctly, what it means that if I enter Thailand after the 4th of April (3rd July minus 90 days) then I will only be able to renew my STV once? Also what isn't is clear -is everyone on an STV required to leave the kingdom by 30 sep, OR that 30 sep is the last day you can do a renewal for stay up until November 30 or thereabouts (30 Sept plus 90 days)?

2.4 Upon entering into Thailand, a stay permit will be granted to the visitor for a maximum period of 90 days. This permit may be extended while the visitor is in Thailand for a maximum of 2 times (twice only) with a maximum validity of 90 days for each extension before 30 September 2021
. Please note that the STV holder, who enters Thailand from 3 July 2021 onwards, will not be permitted to extend visa.

You can get another 90 days on 29 September (personally wouldn't leave it to 30th).

OP, many have obtained a STV so must suit some folk

IMO not best option. In next few days I'm sure that they will announce that issue of covid extensions will continue for next 2 months. Possibly further.

Arriving visa exempt gives you 45+ 30(extension) then follow with covid 60 day extensions. Just an option. Zero visa application and requirements along with minimal insurance.

Reason for wishing to exit Oz (separate issue) select 3+ month travel.

I thought about this but how can i be sure I'll get the covid extensions? Aren't they demanding a letter from the embassy with some valid excuse?

I'm actually in Budapest traveling on my Hungarian passport (just got the info from the Aussie embassy because the Hungarian embassy is not well organised). Since Hungarians are allowed to return to Hungary and there are flights, i don't think i could come up with a valid excuse to get the covid extensions..

@csaba81 what's the current deal with issues in Brisbane (uk strain). Any impact on ability to exit Oz?

I'm in Hungary. Dual passport holder.
