Tuvoc Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 I'm in Thailand at the moment. I have two choices for returning to the UK and re-entering: Option (1): stay until late June and then return early Jan 2022 to Chiang Rai, or Option (2): stay until early May, and then return Sept-Oct for 6-8 weeks, and then leave and return again late Jan 2022 (1) makes the most sense by far apart from the 6 month absence. By Jan 2022 things might be a bit easier everywhere around the world, and for re-entry to Thailand. The more that time passes the greater chance of relaxation of requirements . (2) Now, the big question here is, do we expect any further relaxion by September from what we have now ? I see it is already only 10 days if you are vaccinated, and that would happen for me in the UK. I saw a date of 1st October mentioned for possible further relaxation ? 7 days in Phuket perhaps but that doesn't really offer great advantages over 10 day ASQ in Bangkok. So many announcements that never happen, all very confusing. 1
DrJack54 Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 OP, personally I can't get a handle on post such as yours and others similar. You did not mention family here in Thailand or reason for returning to UK. You are currently in Thailand. Best advice is to remain. Check out situation late this year.
Popular Post BritTim Posted April 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted April 4, 2021 Sad to say, trying to predict requirements several months ahead right now is total guesswork. Even next year, we cannot know for sure, as vaccine resistant strains could upend all current assumptions. 4

Ah, that didn't appear on my radar, yes new strains could appear. My assumption was that things would only get better in both UK and Thailand from this point. Sigh. Total lottery as you say. My post was pretty pointless. 1

Don't understand that thinking. Didn't France recently go into a form of lockdown. Variants in most countries. UK, USA, Russia etc etc. Only today a chap 40,s in Oz (State name Sth Au) with suspected strain from Sth Africa. Think currently in ICU. Another city (Brisbane) just finished 3 day lockdown. Think it was 3 cases of UK strain. Thailand is absolutely kidding itself. 1
Tuvoc Posted April 4, 2021 Author Posted April 4, 2021 Not back to normal, but on a fast downward trajectory. But yes France and Germany are now in a third (?) wave due to their slow progress on vaccinations. But UK is due to remove all restrictions on 21st June (except for inward travellers probably). Big success on their vaccination program. So different countries are in different stages. 1
ubonjoe Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 At this time if vaccinated for covid 19 it is a 7 day quarantine. For the UK it is a 10 day quarantine at this time if not vaccinated. They have a target of October to have the country more open by then. Keep an eye on the embassy in London for up to date info. This page is a good starting point. https://london.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/requirements-for-foreigners-travelling-to-thailand-during-covid-19-tra?page=5d6636cd15e39c3bd00072dd&menu=5f4b6eb3f6ae4b236972c562 1
