PHUKET: The rapid antigen tests now being conducted on people arriving in Phuket from red-zone provinces elsewhere in the country have already identified four people as COVID positive on the first day of the tests being in effect, Phuket Vice Governor Piyapong Choowong has confirmed.

 

As of Thursday, all people arriving in Phuket from the 17 other red zone provinces (Phuket itself has been designated a red-zone province) must undergo a rapid antigen test if they are unable to prove that they are fully vaccinated and unable to prove they have tested negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours before arriving, explained again last night for Thai-language viewers.

 

If people coming to Phuket cannot prove that they are fully vaccinated or prove they have tested negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours before arriving, they will be required to be tested, he repeated.

Wouldn't it be better to test them before departure and then stop them from travelling and potentially spreading Covid-19 throughout the flight?

Maybe...but that's not in the control of the Phuket authorities. So the 4 are wisked off to quarantine or returned wence they came?

Newsflash... being fully vaccinated does not make you immune.

You can still be a carrier.

The rapid antigen tests can catch 'carriers' but also, and probably as likely, catch individuals who contracted and recovered from Covid.  So blindly stating that those who popped on a The rapid antigen tests is a less than accurate statement.

how to prove 2 vaxes? Dark web is full of westerners producing phony certificates, some that actually came from accredited health facilities (paperwork stolen by employees). Could be a big issue down the road..

No, but it massively, massively reduces the chances, according to the real world data collected so far.

I think you're confusing antigen tests and antibody tests.

 

People who have had and recovered from Covid have antibodies. Antigen tests detect the presence of specific viral proteins, which means they only identify people who currently have a viral infection.
