Screenshot: via Eakkapop Thongtub PHUKET:-- Patong Police Chief Col Sujin Nilabodi has confirmed that the managers of the three venues where the mass parties were held in Phuket last month, marking the beginning of the ‘Third Wave’ infections on the island, will face charges under the Emergency Decree. The “parties”, organised by Kolour beachside, at Cafe Del Mar Phuket in Kamala, Illuzion nightclub on Bangla Rd and at the Shelter Phuket Dance & Night Club, also in Patong. Popular Post richard_smith237 Posted May 13, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2021 At the time was there any national or provincial regulation banning such outdoor parties ? If there were, how did the Police not get involved shut down the party at the time ????? The Police can turn up and illegally raid a private residence where 6 foreigners are having dinner, so how did they not shut down the party if it was so very very illegal ????? OR... had the ‘right’ people already been paid off.... so the only way to deal with the face-loss is with a healthy dose of post-event hand washing and the right amount of ‘faux-outrage’... 14 1 1
Popular Post DrDave Posted May 13, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2021 The managers are expendable. The owners, who must have approved the parties are most likely "untouchables". 7 2

No, but there were rules in place that the venues breached. 34 minutes ago, richard_smith237 said: If there were, how did the Police not get involved shut down the party at the time ????? It had been nearly 200 days without a new infection. So things were more relaxed. But this B1.1.7 variant had just started spreading around Thailand. 34 minutes ago, richard_smith237 said: The Police can turn up and illegally raid a private residence where 6 foreigners are having dinner, so how did they not shut down the party if it was so very very illegal ????? Yes, that was six weeks after covid had reared its head again. When the parties were held Phuket was thought to be covid free. Since then there has been increasingly serious rules introduced to stop this new spread, compulsory rapid tests at airports and Sarasin bridge. 34 minutes ago, richard_smith237 said: OR... had the ‘right’ people already been paid off.... so the only way to deal with the face-loss is with a healthy dose of post-event hand washing and the right amount of ‘faux-outrage’... No Rich, calm down mate, you are a bit confused with your time line. 1
Popular Post Patong2021 Posted May 13, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2021 Very bad optics. When I see this story, I think of the poor family publicly humiliated for having a quiet social bubble gathering. How could police miss this event at the time this was going on? Relaxed rules, low case count at the time and all the other excuses do not change that large gatherings were still restricted. I don't think anyone has to say the obvious, that this was irresponsible and dangerous activity. I am tired of paying price for idiots who are selfish. These people go out, do dangerous activity where it is certain they will be infected. Meanwhile, if I am alone and walk on beach with my mask off and give no risk to anyone, I am subject to 20,000 baht penalty and now deportation. Time to stop punishing people who put no one at risk , and to make the people who intentionally spread disease and who do the wrong, pay. 4

Nope, I am aware of when Kolour was held, I have friends who went. I am also aware that no event such as this is held without permission, which involves kick-backs, the bigger the event, the bigger and higher up the kick-backs go. There is no way that the Phuket Governor was unaware that this party was being held well ahead of time. Due to the ensuing outbreak as a result of transmissions at this event, plus the ‘post Songkran’ outbreak as a result of transmissions which occurred in Songkran these parties have become an incredibly hot political potato. Charging the organisers and showing such outrage deflects from the reality that those in positions of decision making power knew exactly what sort of parties were being held, when and where and profited from giving them the go-ahead. 5

I have never heard it so strong from so many people - they really have had enough People like this Governor of Phuket better have a good exit plan

Popular Post ukrules Posted May 13, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2021 I suspect we're going to see employees, especially the managers rounded up and sent to prison here. What we should all demand to see is the owners who ordered the managers to do this locked up as well. If this doesn't happen then it's complete and pure corruption. 4

bloodyholly Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 “Charges progress against Phuket mass party venue operators” Let’s hope the system ‘progresses’ faster than the case against ‘Ace’ condo developers or even the completion of the diabolical screw-up of Patong Beach Road. 1
eyup Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 I emailed Kulour shortly after the event to express my disgust at the holding and "non compliance" of any Covid measures at the event. And thanking them for ruining the relatively Covid free environment. we had enjoyed in Phuket for almost a year. I also suggested, with the possibility of a stint in the "Bangkok Hilton" that it might be prudent for them to look at flights out of Thailand ! I wonder if they took my advice? 1
Lapun Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Rob Muir said that - It had been nearly 200 days without a new infection. So things were more relaxed. According to the stats from https://covid19.th-stat.com/en/share/map, which is now off line, but which I downloaded in February, the last case in Phuket was 25-12-2020. The next case after that according to CCSA was 07-April. Excel tells me that that is 103 days. A LONG way from 200 days. And to put it into perspective, Phuket are now 19th out of 77 Provinces with a total of 579 cases since 01-April-2021 & 583 since recording began. So they did well in the 1st & 2nd waves, but those <deleted> Hi-Sos who took it down to Phuket for the Kolour Beachside Festival which was held April 2 and 3 with events at Café Del Mar Phuket in Kamala, and Shelter Phuket Dance and Night Club and Illuzion Nightclub, both in Patong have done their thing. Now Phuket is suffering. 1

Now Phuket is suffering. You can blame it on partiers and hiso's. But when the borders are as porous as they are for illegal foreign workers and Thais crossing back and forth to work in casinos, any finger pointing is either a deliberate deflection or a wild guess.
