2nd Bank Account?
I've got BBL, UOB, SCB, and KBANK, but I only actively use UOB and SCB. The other two are basically dormant. I have my reasons for not using them, but I don’t think anyone’s interested in all the details. Out of the two I use, one is for long-term savings and the other is for daily spending. That’s how I keep things separate. I’ve also seen people talking about keeping ฿4 to ฿5 million in Thai banks. Personally, I’d never do that. I think it’s risky. In fact, I’m currently reducing the amount I keep in Thailand, I've stopped bringing extra in and plan to keep as little here as possible moving forward. There have been a lot of confusing changes with how the banks operate lately, and things seem to be getting more difficult as time goes on. As a result, I don’t feel secure keeping large amounts in local banks anymore. If you need to maintain a balance for a family or retirement visa, fine, but I wouldn’t go much beyond that. Things are also becoming more unstable here at the moment, both politically and especially with what we’ve seen recently on the eastern front. Also, nobody knows if the stability of the Thai Baht will get disrupted in the future. So I wouldn't bet the farm by keeping too much in Thai Baht.- 1
