Inter provincial travel

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of taking a trip from Chonburi to Trad. Does anyone have a link to a reliable source of information regarding restrictions, requirements and regulations?

I was planning a similar trip.  Most info is in Thai.  Wifey did the research, but it's hard to find what's really going on.  One website said mandatory quarantine, another said just temp checks.

My friend on Koh Chang said several of his friends just arrived, no checks, no issues at all.  One came from Bangkok another from Pattaya.

A recent source in Trad itself showed me a Thai infographic that said anyone coming from the 14 red zones or the 4 dark red zones needs a test and a medical certificate. Impossible to tell as usual where the truth lies.

The request is for essential travel only, unfortunately not all follow this and just " take a trip" as they wish.

We were headed there a few weeks ago, and that's what we read from the Trat provincial government website.  Or, that you had to be tested by your hotel on arrival.  None of that is true.  At least for the 2 people who went there last week!

there are various Vloggers on You Tube, and they are all travelling as they wish

they dont have any problems.

clearly the 'only travel if necessary' rules dont apply to these people

Frankly no idea nor I suspect has anybody else.  This week drove from Udon to Phitsanulok. Next day to Bangkok and then back to Udon. Encountered no checks other then the customary glance you have a valid parabor . So if there are rules then all those provinces I drove thro' then they are either not applicable or not understood or not being enforced. The latter would be unusual given the RTPs normal behaviour.

For me, it's not worth the gamble. Maybe it is if you're just rolling down the road without a care in the world (I wish), and it doesn't matter if you get there or not, but if you've got business to attend to at your destination then getting denied entry would be a major PITA. And I'm not prepared to jump through all the hoops for a 3 day round trip.

Think it's a classic YMMV! Quite literally.

I found this site

Still very strict controls, report dated 17th May.

Yeah, that's what they've been saying for weeks.  In reality, no check points, no hotels asking you to be tested, nada.

Very confusing....

Asked my Wifey if I can go Koh Chang to Rayong, stay a few nights, " you can go but not for a week, and when you come back, don't tell anyone'' ???? that's all clear then.

If the unelected "PM" says we should only travel if necessary, then why do us on retirement and marriage exts have to travel to do our 90 day report? I have a round trip of over 100Ks to do mine.
