There is no insurance requirement to apply for a extension of stay based upon retirement if you started out with a non-o visa entry.

OP, no insurance required for non O extensions for both marriage and retirement.

Non O-A extensions require insurance for retirement but not required for extension based on marriage.

Edit: op, I just noticed another of your threads and now realize that you have obtained your non O outside of Thailand and planing to travel to Thailand. You best check with an expert @ubonjoe if in that situation you require insurance or not for your COE.

I assumed you were already in Thailand and just checking requirements for extension.

OP, My understanding is that if you obtain a new non O (retirement) outside of Thailand ie UK then you need to obtain insurance for 3 months to cover your 90 days permit of stay.

After that for your 12 month extension you will not require insurance.

Make sure you know and understand the requirements for the specific extension you will be applying for.
