Even if you didn't make it today, you would probably just get a 500 baht fine overstay tomorrow and get your extension done. But still, to be safe rush and you should be good today. And say sorry many times, always help.

But every renewal, one or more of the others has been wearing t shirts and shorts, t shirts and sweats, or even a tank top and sweat pants, with a baseball cap.  But I also was never even been asked any questions, and sailed on through, so I guess it does pay to dress up and act polite.

Yer..it really is important in those situations , "Just to look decent" Asians put so much importance on it-- and you only have to do once every 3 months.

Look at the Police or anyone wearing a tight uniform and you can see the outline of the Vest = Tank top underneath, so these guys in their 50-60s are wandering in dressed in what is classed here as underwear---just mad isn't it.

We did it boys.

Not without running around to get the photo and copies of passport pages, but all within the same building; thank you Chang Watthana

Note to anyone in the same position: get your # first, then go downstairs to get your photo and photocopies. I was dumb enough to do the up/down lap 3 times for food, photo, photocopies

Actually I only got an under consideration stamp which says to come back in June??

Does this effectively extend my visa till then? What?

Or am I technically in overstay till I go back?

First, I'm glad you got it done in time.

Now, you just have to back at your under consideration date in June and will receive a 2 months permit of stay starting from the date your previous extension expired. Which is today, so the extension they will give you in June will be until 23rd of July or so.

No overstay or fine, you're good. Just make sure to put a reminder somewhere for your under consideration appointment date.

Your "Under Consideration" stamp shows the date that you must return for the result of the "consideration". You are legitimately staying in the kingdom until that date:

I never dealt with immigration until this year, but from the recommendations, I always dressed up and am polite.  But every renewal, one or more of the others has been wearing t shirts and shorts, t shirts and sweats, or even a tank top and sweat pants, with a baseball cap.  But I also was never even been asked any questions, and sailed on through, so I guess it does pay to dress up and act polite.

I always act polite, and I always try to find something to make them laugh, last time I went with a mate and got an urgent phone call from wifey on speaker phone while actually speaking with IO telling me that both of us had to wear a mask in the car,  " Oh thank you Prayut'' I quipped, the staff fell about laughing ????  showing their dislike of him. True story.

I too, am always dressed properly, but I do that all the time. I also shave daily, and prefer to speak politely to those around me, and not just Thai people at Immigration. I find that Thai people especially, are likely to speak to me, and listen to me if I dress politely, which I have done all my working life.

I don't want to look like some of the ill-mannered, slovenly dressed, irk brigade that I too, regularly see at Immigration and around the country. This, despite the many notices at Immigration, informing visitors to dress smartly, avoid flip flops and 'wife-beater T shirts, (the most revolting and repugnant piece of clothing I have ever seen) - but Thais are too polite to confront these slobbish, uncouth and sometimes 'unclean' looking individuals. No wonder we are so often described as 'unclean' or 'dirty'.

In all my 55 years of visiting Thailand and long before I came here to live permanently, 16 years ago - in all that time, I have never had a problem in dealing or interacting with Thai people. I too dislike the endless paperwork and dreary regulations, but hey! My choice to live as a guest in their country. I do what they want from me - not what I think is best for them.

We are also ambassadors for our country of origin. Many seem to ignore, sneer or are too uneducated in the ways of social interaction to project themselves in a friendly manner.

And finally, I fail utterly, to understand how you can forget to know when you are expected to appear at the Immigration offices. How is that possible? Everyone these days has access to a phone, or a computer, tablet or some other 'smart' device. They all have calender facilities and alarms. Everyone has a passport with a date requirement in it, not to mention actual calendars in your home,  spouses, GFs, others who may be aware of your need to present yourselves. How and why, is that possible?

Isn't there also a requirement within ourselves, to take responsibility for our obligations and actions and t use our brains and knowledge organising those things we need to do in our lives?

Oh, sh**! It's 7 am - I almost forgot to feed the fish!

I agree with all your points. Being decent all around is a way of life we should all adhere to. But, as human beings we are flawed, some more than others it seems.

And why would people be late with immigration? Because they are lazy, like to procrastinate and because they dread these visits. If it was to get financial compensation, everyone would be on time I presume, with multiple reminders in place. 555

It will be closed on Wednesday, but just Wednesday. Worst case scenario, even if he didn't make it yesterday or even today, he would just pay 500 baht fine per day of overstay. But it is always preferable to avoid that situation.
