Changing jobs, teaching in BKK moving to Chiang Rai

Featured Replies

I will be changing jobs end of June and will move from BKK to Chiang Rai. How do I get the Non-O visa to teach done at the new locale? My current non-O expires June 30. My new job starts July 01. I think I need to arrive the day before my current non-O expires and go directly to Immigration with new, signed contract in hand. Anyone have a clue in these uncertain COVID times? Please message me with info and thanks in advance. Old way was visit Laos for new Visa, then skip back to Thailand.

I assume you started out with a non-b visa for teaching not a non-o visa and you are now on a extension of stay based upon teaching.

You will have to cancel your current extension at immigration in Bangkok before going to Chiang Mai. You need a termination letter from current employer to cancel it with date you will be leaving your job. Most offices will post date the cancelation if you go to them before the cancelation date.

Your new employer will need to apply for your work permit to get a application approval letter you need to apply for a new extension of stay.
