PHUKET: Qatar Airways has confirmed that the airline will operate four flights a week from Doha to Phuket starting July 1.

The route will be operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, offering 22 seats in Business Class and 232 in Economy Class, the airline noted in a release issued yesterday (June 1).

In addition to its 12 flights a week to Bangkok, the airline will operate a total of 16 weekly flights to Thailand “providing connectivity for its passengers travelling from Europe, the Middle East and United States” the release said.

In their case normal airline economics don't feature, as the State owns, operates and bankrolls the airline.   Qatar Airlines is just a marketing tool for that country.

They usually fly a lot of cargo even without passengers. Just don't see the volume for Phuket justifying 4 flights.

I'd be tempted to fly in July.

Business class with Qatar airways (especially Q Suite) is a treat.

Still gets boring on long flights though.

No Q Suites on their Dreamliners.

By the way, the plane in the picture is an A350 (easily recognizable by the 'raccoon' mask), not a B787.
