Need top stop all this lunacy very, very soon.

70-80 million people got added to the world population last year during this pandemic.

If the same happens this year , then we are looking like adding 150,000,000 people to the world in 2 years - even allowing for covid deaths.

The amount of people losing jobs, businesses, dying from lost hospital appointments, losing housing, lifestyles just disappearing makes no sense any more.

The world and world leaders are destroying the planet more than the disease.

What do you think this Vaccine is for? This is there solution

With this news, plus all the hotels, tour agencies, etc etc etc closing, how is it that they arrive at an official 2%(ish) unemployment rate?

Because they were daily wage earners cash in hand and not on any government books.

It wasn't the coronavirus that closed the restaurants, it was the restrictions issued by the authorities. Let's try to keep it in mind

It was the corona virus that brought about the restrictions let's keep that in mind.

These closures are a nuisance.  For us.

For the staff, their wages are gone.

For the owners, this ends their income, their hopes and dreams, their legacy for the next generations of their family.

Let's not moan to much about the inconvenience to us, we'll get past it and be in much the same position as before, many won't.

Finally! attention to a situation that is no longer tenable for restaurants across Thailand, that has killed the life of its cities, Chiang Mai being one of the hardest hit.  How does the Junta expect tourists to come to a country where you will be arrested for drinking alcohol in public, where you are forbidden a glass of wine with your dinner, where everything you love about being on vacation can be taken away with a simple decree from the Covid Czar.  This is ludicrous - Thailand as a tourist destination is rapidly disappearing because there will be no infrastructure for tourism left.

As soon as the tourist can come back watch the restaruants spring up on every conor and the tourist companies open up. Many here are just to negative. The people who went under more than likely under funded.

Really? So explain to me, why didn't Russia, Belarus, Sweden have a lockdown day? And despite this they have had fewer cases than those who have made the lockdown. What is this'? Does the virus hate Russians and Swedes? Or is it because these countries have not obeyed certain world hierarchies that have imposed the lockdown? Please explain it

I’ve been saying it since the beginning — the damage done by these ineffective lockdowns causes more damage than a virus that has a greater than 99% survival rate.

“Deaths of despair” is the phenomenon associated with these over zealous government reactions, across the world. Increases in suicide, drug and alcohol abuse and overdoses, murders are directly caused by the lockdowns.  The long term effects on mental health are just now coming to light as we see an increase in practically all crime across the world, in part due to economic devastation and in part dwindling mental health and well-being.

These figures will never be tallied though since they’re acceptable losses to the elites in power who aren’t and never will be affected by poverty and losing your only means to make a living, or crippling despair, and mind numbing boredom.

The virus isn’t going away and you can’t hide from it sitting in a room all day. We should learn to live with it the sane way — the most vulnerable population self-isolates, limits exposure to others until they can get a vaccine, and takes extra precautions. Sensible hygienic practices and common sense for the rest of the population who aren’t as vulnerable and would probably make a full recovery if they caught it. Putting everyone’s lives on hold multiple times with no end in sight and with no aid from the government is not the right way to do it. If you insist on having lockdowns, generous aid from the government has to also come with it.

And the lockdowns worked amazing in the UK — 127k deaths with some of the harshest restrictions and lockdowns. Up until recently was in the top 5 highest covid cases and deaths in the world. Even with full-measure lockdowns.

I know many from taxi driver to hair salon who can survive no longer.

Just imagine if the Thai government HAD started the vaccine rollout in earnest back in February and had vaccinated most of the country as they had promised, they could have been on the UK's Amber or even Green list and would have been swamped by brits and Europeans that have had both jabs  that not only regularly visit Thailand but loads of new tourists with fewer places to go just itching to go on holiday somewhere.... how short sighted!!

Sad to read Chu has shut its doors. I fear many of our favorite eateries will be no more when we get back in August.

Any news about Indigo on Convent Road?

As usual, Reuters misses an important point...

The ban on alcohol.

Everyone should know... that alcohol is a big chunk of the margin of every restaurant.

So since april 24... the restaurants... ALL OVER Thailand, whatever their childish "color" system... can not sell alcohol.

Since mid may in Bangkok ("dark red")... they can open at 25 % inside... but still without alcohol.

And what was achieved by such brillant policy ?

Nothing. We still have nationwide, our 3000 cases and 30 deads every day... And so called clusters popping out.

The parks are still closed. The school are still closed (and they won't open on june 14 in BKK that's for sure), etc.

"The parks are still closed. The school are still closed (and they won't open on june 14 in BKK that's for sure), etc."  But look at places who are not and will not close, immigration offices, it's almost as if there is no pandemic at all as far as they are concerned.

Vaccine. vaccine , vaccine. What is so hard about that for an answer. Look at countries who are do it - their economies are improving  ex·po·nen·tial·ly --- 555

Look at Sweden, no lock down only requests from the government. And everyone is working great in Sweden. Good to have all restaurant, hair salons and gyms open ????????????

What test are they using when deciphering all these new daily cases? If it is the PCR test, how can we take them seriously. We all know the PCR test by now.
