Drugs police in the Bang Khen area of Bangkok mounted a stakeout in Pahonyothin Soi 48 in the early hours of Thursday after they received information that a drug deal was going down.

Narong or "Neung" Kaewkamnert, 44, arrived in his pink taxi #5178 and was approached by the officers.

He fled towards Soi 50 smashing into a police vehicle and ten vehicles in total before he could go no further and was taken into custody outside the P Kung Pao restaurant, reported Daily News.

He had 2.10 grams of crystal meth in his trousers.

Narong said he had got out of jail early this year after a drugs offence.

He decided to rent a taxi but couldn't make ends meet so he met up with a dealer called Mai (he didn't know his real name or surname) who gave him drugs to deliver to a customer in Soi 48.

When he saw the constabulary he thought it was time to scarper lest he be taken into custody.

Police took him to Bang Khen station and are in the process of contacting all the people whose vehicles he damaged during his fruitless fleeing.

Remember that number 5178, good luck with the next lottery????

Hardly think the number plate of the car wrecking your car is a lucky number, or for the owner(s) whose livelihood just got wrecked.

More lucky number will be the sentence days behind bars

But you are not Thai so hence the Thai's perverse understanding of what constitutes a lucky number is unknown to you.

Nice to know that Bangkok taxi drivers are vetted for criminal records before being allowed to carry passengers.

I have thought the main requirements to get a taxi license would be that you are a crook.
