Thailand announces new restrictions in Bangkok, other provinces

Better to keep them open. They don't just consist of restaurants but shops selling most everything you could possibly want. They keep the smaller food and sundries markets from getting too crowded and malls usually have a small supermarket or two on the lower floors where shoppers can stock up on edibles and help keep the Big C's, Tesco Lotus's's's's's' and 7-11s from getting packed out.

Don't know about malls in Bangkok but Zeer and Future Park in Rangsit were fairly strict a few months ago with the signing-in and temp checks. The shops and businesses within the malls have their owning screening and are likely to keep the number of customers entering down to a minimum. Whereas Big C, Tesco, Sevens and markets are starting to get more and more complacent and there's not so much customer control anymore.

TRANSLATION - i enjoy malls, it gives me a bit of enjoyment in these dark times, please don't close them. Here are some silly facts that obviously make no sense.

The no dining in restriction will affect the domestic tourism, so way to go  wise and powerful

but a bit stupid PM.  Even open dining with occupancy at 50 percent is better than the knee jerk, shutting restaurants

down to take out only.  Maybe the U turn on Monday will happen, as the flack hits the PM door, so to speak.

Good luck Thailand you still need all that you can get.

Geezer

Utter rubbish.

Malaysia is still under a country wide lockdown since the beginning of June. So why would you want Malaysians coming over the border unchecked.

And it's really to prevent Thais, some of which have been working illegally in Malaysia, from sneaking back in and avoiding quarantine.

From the article "specific businesses and activities would be targeted to contain the virus."

Correct if I am wrong. this virus is airborne ..so how can you lock some neighborhood in the city but not others.? its is all over the city and every one can be infected. h

They have one  options:  speed up the vaccine effort in Bangkok-- at any cost

Since the virus infection is raging all over the country, the Phuket sandbox plan will not work. what these people will do in Thailand after Phuket?  they wont be able to go anywhere but home

The adjacent smaller islands such as Samui and Koh Tao are ready to take them if they are staying longer than 14 days, they can do another week or more island hoping.

As for touring the rest of mainland Thailand I'm not sure that's going to be a good idea... for the tourists anyway. Bangkok is certainly off the list.

Siam Bioscience has already started manufacturing the vaccine. It's not that difficult for a company that already makes biologics.

But it was a motorcycle repair shop before!

We could end this pandemic very quickly with widespread use of Ivermectin or we can continue on the current course of providing a favorable environment for this virus to quickly evolve into something much more deadly with vaccines. Choose wisely.

Is Ivermectin available here?

My ex in Canada picked some up (although in Horse Paste form) and has been keeping 'just it in case'

They are so good at selling doom and gloom.  Lots of buyers in here too.  You'd think you got a deal on McDonald's stock at its IPO.

US states that led the opening and re-oppening charge are the least vaxed states.  They did it before vax even rolled out.  Vax have very little to do with it.

Numbers in thailand are 1600 deaths in 1.5 years and 750,000 other deaths during that time.

Let me help you with those numbers:  that is 1600 in 1.5 year and 1370 DAILY other deaths.

that means that there are almost the SAME NUMBER OF DAILY deaths as there have been in ONE POINT FIVE YEARS from covid.

Me thinks having an 'emergency rule' has been quite useful and they do not appear to want to relinquish that.

Not when people buy that this is the end of days apocalypse and let them squash every human right that's been attained over 100's of years.

For god's sake, you have people in here applauding  when 2 old men and a woman are arrested for having wine at dinner in their own home saying they deserved it and are dangerous.

That is a seriously dangerous path for people of the free world to allow to continue to be OK'd.

Exactly correct ????????

The US hasn't seen the last of COVID, mark my words on this - there will be more widespread outbreaks.

Yep.  Covid is not going away.  That has to be accepted.

Which gladly, one by one, more enlightened countries (or ones where citizens made the push) are now doing.

Singapore has announced that it's officially treating covid with the same respect as the flu.  It's eliminating quarantines and vax requirements for all.

Treatments such as ivermectin and HCQ need to be utilized plus continued research for even better treatments.

But destroying people's lives needs to be put to an end under the guise of Covid is the Black Plague.   It wasn't even equal to the Bird Flu of the past 5 years.

Over Safety made sense in the beginning, at least with how it was advertised.  But the information is out there now in abundance.

Now it's no longer safety on their mind,

it's more about not wanting to give back the absolute power and new wealth that has been attained while populations have been trained to heal like grown elephants tied by ropes to a stake in the ground.

I truly hope sanity returns quickly for all nations.

Shopping malls in Bangkok and the five provinces must be closed by 9 p.m

They can close down every small and medium business in Thailand, but they will never close down a mall where literally thousands of people congregate in one enclosed location. ????

With the caveat it's going to down the line sometime. They have such a small population, that they could vaccinate everyone twice in a few weeks. So why not open up then,  instead of just talking the talk? Cos it's just bluster.

Malls were closed in the March/April 2020 lockdown (apart from the food halls).

did you see any farangs trying to escape?  clint eastwood on a raft?

Mostly Americans, but some foreigners-----whose safety I was responsible for. I would often organize as many as seventy-five kayakers to escort the triathletes from Alcatraz to Crissy Field.

Where's the vax? That's what we really need. About 45% of the US is now vaccinated, and so everywhere's reopening. Amazing considering how at one time we had the highest rate of infections.

These small, occasional shipments from China are ridiculous. Why can't larger supplies be secured, from other sources? Why can't the manufacturing be done here?

I'm in New York City and it's pretty much all opened up even masks have become optional . Here you can get your choice of vaccine and as of a couple days ago they will even come to you.

Are attitudes changing now?

They did not have a vaccine a year ago. You are comparing apes to elephants.

indeed i am affraid thailnd is heading into a disaster.

in pandemic  everyday counts. and the government does not seem

to get the severety of the situation.

does it mattar if the malls will be closed 9 p.m. or 7 p.m. ?

yes it mattars to the economy but not for the virus.

again oil massage solutions that rub only the surface.

another solution is the mexican - open all now and this way

at least save the economy.

yes there will be hundreads of deaths every day, from the virus. but many

others will be saved from hunger and depression.

Same with Singapore, it will be fully open soon.

1) What takes so long for Vax's to arrive from Europe or USA etc? Has Thai Gov heard of Airplanes???

2) What happened to Bioscience Thailand MASSIVE vax rollout of AZ on June 6th???

3) Why not air freight Moderna/Phizzer/AZ to Thailand NOW???

4) Didn't Japan donate 1 million AZ doses this last week? Where are they?

5) Nearly IMPOSSIBLE to register for a vax! Great trick to delay us getting needled!

The Thai people are dying, going broke, suffering. Only a handful of us farrangs will get it, as we are mostly on-line shopping. Mr A and P, you have failed the country badly, stop counting your money and get the vaccines delivered

BTW all the headlines about Phuket and the Sandbox grand opening DO NOT FOOL ANYONE.

I wish Phuket all the luck in the world, health and prosperity, but millions of cash carrying foreigners coming in, sorry I really doubt that!
