I can’t wait for tomorrow to arrive to see the PM greeting the so called 1,000s who have apparently booked to come to Phuket It will be a mass media event shown around the world. My daughter in the US wants to head to Phuket but when she saw the logistics, she instead said, next year Dad, next year, but maybe you can come home before then for a vacation and we will take the sailboat out to the island here in Washington. inThailand
Chinese tourists will return to Thailand in October. Not unless there are no quarantine requirements, zero restrictions, no additional costs and of course if Thailand has vaccined the country. So, they ain't coming in October. Popular Post IamNoone88
I don't miss the Chinese for a second. They got us into this mess and everyone has suffered as a result. Their vaccine is of the lowest standards. I certainly hope that their return can be prolonged as long as possible. They should not be heralded as economic saviours.

JUst waiting for their return so we can have the daily entertainment of the following. Welcome to Thailand....NOT The one crapping on the street in Chinatown was found to be a local autistic boy, not a Chinese tourist. 2
jaiyen
We all remember when the Thai tour operators were very vocal in slagging the Chinese tourists cos they never spent any of their money in Thai businesses, they were dirty, bad mannered and very loud. spitting in the street, and they didn't want them here. You are their competitors, totally logical for you not to miss them and your opinion has 0 value. As someone who is in China having to complete 3 weeks mandatory quarantine (2 weeks in a state hotel) puts everyone off. Coupled with an increase in media FUD that China is the safest place right now, all Chinese I know, don't wan't to leave and take the risk of traveling to Thailand or anywhere else for a holiday, especially to a country that is riddled with COVID and has a poor vaccination programme. This news article should be filed in the section of pure fantasy. Agreed. I am in China as well. Have been since February this time. The locals I deal with all tell me that their government is indicating that they don't expect travel issues to change until at least next summer. I had to quarantine in entry city two weeks, then destination city another week and then a final week of observation before I could go to work. What kind of dope are those Thai officials smoking? Hopium? 5

This quarantine upon return, by itself, limits the number of outbound Chinese tourists dramatically. Nothing the Thai government can do about this, but the fact that Thailand will increasingly be seen as a high risk destination sure won't help. They don't quarantine in state facilities. Anyone entering China is taken to a 2 or 3 star hotel or even sometimes a 4 star. You have no choice which hotel and the "guides" in the buses wont even tell you where you are headed. You end up at your hotel and that is where you stay; be it a dump or be it a luxury facility. A fellow worker was the only Guilao (foreigner) on a bus and when it arrived at the destination hotel, the Chinese travellers refused to get off the bus. He said there was a near riot because the hotel was a dump. The police were called and they talked about half the people off. They told my friend to stay on the bus. It then went to a different hotel which was even more of a dump. Chinese people know what awaits them upon return to China and they aren't interested. 6

Chinese city of Guangzhou to build giant Covid-19 quarantine facility with 5,000 spaces for international travellers Quote The southern Chinese city of Guangzhou is planning to build a massive quarantine complex for international travellers and local residents from high-risk areas because local hotels cannot cope with highly transmissible Covid-19 mutations such as the Delta variant, according to leading respiratory expert Zhong Nanshan. “There will be 5,000 isolated spaces and the people there will be isolated according to strict rules to make sure they do not infect each other,” Zhong told a group interview on Friday. Zhong said that after observing the transmissibility of the Delta variant in Guangdong province during the past month, he was convinced that using hotels as quarantine facilities would not be enough to stop the spread of the disease given it was a lot more transmissible than other pre-existing variants. 2

Forza2002
At the current rate of injections there isn't a chance in hell of the borders opening in mid Oct. To date only 6.9M have had the 1st jab, which represents 13% of the adult population of ~53M... To meet the Czars target, the 1st jab would need to be ~344K per day. They have only bettered that number twice (7th, 8th June) which was the 1st 2 days of the mass vaccine rollout. The weekend numbers for injections are a joke...
