People have been queuing, since 8pm last night, to get free COVID-19 tests at Phra Si Mahathat Wora Maha Viharn Temple in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district. The venue can, however, only screen 900 people per day.

The Bang Khen district office, under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), set up a free COVID-19 testing centre at the temple on Monday (July 5th). Many people have been showing up since.

Those who queued up early said that there should be more COVID-19 testing locations, as many people are having to wait a long time to get tested. They also said that they arrived at 8pm last night to get their queue numbers and that they had to wait on the footpath of Pahonyothin Road, in front of the temple.

Why not ? its a government testing center, it says so in the article.

These kinds of news articles just show that there are not enough test locations and people are turned away. So the numbers that we have are far too low.

If you even limit walk in testing and not enough active testing at hotspots you will never get enough data.

It was clear before that active testing is far to low now even walk in is too low. People get send away at hospitals. I think the real numbers are far higher (i mean that there are many walk in sick people denied a test)

I have no faith whatever in the government statistics because as you say :

there are not enough test locations and people are turned away. So the numbers that we have are far too low.

I think the numbers being given out by the government in no way reflect the true statistics of this current wave. Not enough tests being carried out and the ineptitude of this government has been proven again and again.

I agree, just don't understand why you say these wont be counted.

Yes ppl turned away wont be counted and not enough locations agree. But why an official government test center would not add to the numbers is the thing I question.

The numbers are not correct sure.. but to assume that positive tests are not counted in this location there is no proof for that. Also no proof it is. But your saying they don't even count all numbers.. that is an other level.

Because there are testing centers all over the country now , in every province and every major town

( saw one in our small town yesterday ) They appear to be trying belatedly to test track and trace the returnees from Bangkok that fled up country from construction sites. If we just think about the numbers of these testing centers ( and Bangkok probably has many ) it seems very suspicious to me that the statistics being given out are hovering between 4500 - 6500 new cases and a death rate that also seems remarkably constant within a range of 40-60. We should surely be seeing more as from no cases in our rural village a few weeks ago we now have about 12 infected people in three households .

It really is very widespread now.

Of course, I could be wrong but frankly I have almost ceased to believe that this government  is capable of dealing with this current wave in an effective and transparent way.

I think in BKK its well registered, but i think you could be right about the countryside.

There is also a raport from a Dr in BKK who examined dead bodies and found covid in people who were not counted as covid deaths' (see in todays numbers topic)

So sure the deaths are off and the real numbers probably too

While i don't decry anyone wanting to get tested, but if one is feeling fine and showing no symptoms at all why would you go to be tested.... unless you suspect being in contact with possible infected people.

testing is pointless at this stage, everyone is going to get it one way or another, until they get their vaccine shots

or herd immunity
