if quarantined, the hotels are required to refund you  but you have to pay the quarantine bill. That well thought out idea is sure to encourage an increase in the number of tourists. Welcome to Phuket and now..... Pay your own cell bill.

Must be really sad to fly all the way here in the middle of a pandemic when they could have been closer to home or holidayed at home.

Next time you go out, look around.  Now think about this... One out of every 5 people you interact with would test positive (if they could get a test).  Now figure the Sandbox statistics...  1 tourist out of 2100 tested positive.  That's 0.05%.

Who would you rather share a meal with?  Or more pragmatic, whose money spends safer?

 

Is your 20% a true example, living in a village in Issan rather than in heavily populated Bangers is not like for like, if your 1 in 5 ratio is true in Bangers i feel it would be considerably less out here in buffalo land ( whether the buffalo is sick or not).

For that matter I have nto seen any COVID specific policies that would cover being quarantined if uninfected.

 

The unused payment to SHA+hotel should cover at least part of the stay in ALQ. But depending in timing, maybe not all.

I've looked at the wording on the AXA policy and it would not provide any coverage for this. It's actually a bog standard inward travel policy that is issued alongside a certificate that states that coverage for sickness caused by COVID 19 is covered. It covers any other sickness for the same limits.

 

I don't know if anyone has tailored a policy to cover the costs of ALQ in the event of contact with an infected person.

My insurance told me that they will cover everything and unlimited as soon as I'm tested positive.

I wonder if he / they actually have covid or they aquired and were rather carriers of the virus in/on their persons. Then... running that PCR gadget at 50 cycles...boom Covid you lose.

 

If anything like this where to have occurred you know that this would never get out into the public that would be absolutely devastating.

 

The person was vaccinated and did have a negative test prior to bboarding.

 

Given this outcome and force jailing of individuals I think it's entirely disingenuous that Thailand invites tourists to holiday here. This is also not to mention that we will hit 10,000 cases in a day within the next day or two and then on to 15,000 eh?

I love how the govts think they can control this. Probably people will get covid at the meetings they have about what to do with sandbox arrivals who have covid. 
 

The world needs to gather a team of about 15 or so of the best scientists in the world. No outside contact allowed with these scientists and maybe even keep their identity private. Those scientists then decide what each country should do. The country then implements their plan, or they don’t as would happen in Thailand as we all know.

Just to clarify a couple of points and continue my post from yesterday. I am a sandboxer in day 8.

 

There were 142 passengers on the flight in question (2 first class, 30 business and 110 in economy). Therefore not ALL passengers were transfered to ALQ.

 

My AXA insurance would NOT cover me for ALQ unless i had tested positive. It is Covid specific insurance.

 

The 12 who tested negative but were part of the travel group and put in ALQ are returning to UAE and have been given a full "refund". This news is just appearing on Phuket News / Times. I do not know yet if there will be any other form of compensation (TAT have apparently offered some form of holiday voucher but I am too scared to write that...)

I do hope the Thai authorities get enough international heat over this to do something for this poor German lady, it's a crying shame.

Why the hell has thousands of locals got vaccinated for if not allowed to mix with fully vaccinated foreign arrivals wasn't that the goal.

With Sinopharm which is only 50% effective at reducing symptomatic infections and may be even less effective (or even not effective) at preventing asymptomatic infection. Also seemingly not effective for Delta variant.

 

As long as they accept vaccination with Sinopharm and Sinovac, we will keep seeing positive cases among the arrivals.

 

The obvious solution is to accept only those vaccinated with AZ/J&J/Pfizer or Moderna. But politicallt difficult for government to do that while still probiding Sinovac and Sinopharm to its own population.

In worst scenary, if they send you to ASQ hotel, it wil no be worse than directly staying in ASQ hotel in Bangkok.

And, if everything goes well, you spend 2 weeks at the seaside, instead.

If you use the Sandbox model, you do it because it's a better option than to go to ASQ. Thus meaning you stay longer than 14 days. If you go with this mindset, than the bad luck of being tested positive would merely put you in the original situation of ASQ. 

That'd be my situation, but may be they were real tourist in holidays.

Understandable, of course when you're feeling vulnerable, you want to go home.   I saw a lot of people during early Covid take Tylenol and Ibuprofen on flights to make sure they got past the temperature scanners.   No one wants to get stuck in a metal room when they think they can probably recover at home or in their hotel.

The have the hotels. Just need to approve more for of them for ASQ. Just think of all the extra income.
